Just like Meghan Markle before her, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is about to get into the world of podcasting.
The 63-year-old revealed that her new audio platform Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah, will be launching shortly – and no topic is off the table.
The Duchess of York shared that her new venture will be released this week, featuring discussions of ‘the highs and lows of everyday life’ and addressing ‘some of the biggest and strangest stories from around the world’.
It was also revealed that the Duchess would be joined by Sarah Thomson, a fellow entrepreneur who founded a news organisation aimed at children, First News. Per the show's synopsis, the podcast promises ‘candid conversations’ as the hosts share their perspectives on everyday issues.
A post on her official Instagram page also confirmed the exciting news.
They are expected to be joined by special guests as well, who will share their personal insights into listeners’ dilemmas.
‘Long-time friends and tea fans, author Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and Sarah Jane Thomson, entrepreneur and founder of First News, will be getting to the bottom of week’s talking points while enjoying a soothing cup of tea,’ the announcement on social media said.
‘No topic is off the table.’
Fergie is just one of several royals to have a podcast.
Princess Eugenie also has her own podcast, called The Anti-Slavery Collective, where she keeps the production focused solely on her charity. She interviews guests from all walks of life who are helping combat modern-day slavery.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Mike Tindall also have their own audio platform where they tend to share deeply personal stories about their time in the royal family.
It is also unclear what kind of financial deal Fergie agreed to.
In comparison, Meghan and Harry signed a lucrative deal with an estimated worth of $33,613,110 AUD with an audio streaming giant in late 2020 to host and produce podcasts.
Despite the eye-watering deal, they have only released one series – Meghan’s Archetypes – since launching. The podcast focuses on Meghan speaking to historians, experts, and other influential women who have experienced being ‘typecast’.
This new podcast is believed to be Fergie’s newest business venture after opening up about her financial difficulties in the past. She has previously described her situation as ‘continually on the verge of financial bankruptcy’ in a 2010 TV interview.
The Duchess has also started a career as a romance author for the publishing company Mills & Boon and is currently promoting her new work called A Most Intriguing Lady.
Aside from that, Fergie has ventured into various entrepreneurial roles in the past by writing children’s books, producing films, and even selling blenders on TV.
Earlier this year, she also launched a gallery of digital art, which features her spoken-word poetry overlaid with other artists' visual interpretations.
This also comes after the Duchess revealed she had the ‘wildest night out’ she’s ever experienced with Princess Diana.
In an interview for the US TV program The Kelly Clarkson Show, Fergie admitted that she and Princess Diana were once arrested after the pair decided to impersonate and dress up as police officers. This led to the royal troublemakers’ arrest.
Fergie even revealed that, upon being arrested, the two of them had to hide their engagement rings in the police van. And the late Princess Diana also decided to help herself to a packet of ‘smoky bacon-flavoured crisps’.
‘That is until an officer in the front seat shouted at her: “You can’t do that!”’ she shared. You can read the rest of the story here.
