Discover the ingenious $1.75 Kmart kitchen tool this Aussie driver cannot live without…in her car!

Many of us have been there—pulling up to a parking station boom gate, only to find the ticket machine just out of reach.

No matter how much you strain and stretch, those paper tickets remain tantalisingly close but impossibly far.

Well, one savvy Aussie driver has devised a very simple and surprisingly affordable solution to this age-old problem.

Brittany Nash has revealed why she always keeps this kitchen from Kmart in her car—and it's not for an impromptu barbecue.

The humble kitchen tool, it turns out, is a lifesaver for those awkward moments when reaching for a paper parking ticket at a boom gate becomes a difficult task.

Brittany's solution?

Her trusty $1.75 Coloured Nylon Tongs from Kmart!

'Whenever someone new comes into my car, they're always like, “Brit, why do you have tongs in your car?”' Brittany shared.

'Okay, great question, but I have an even better answer. You know, when you come up to those boom gates for the car park and they’ve got a little ticket machine, I can never get close enough to the ticket machine without my handy dandy little tongs.'

Her innovative tip to grab the ticket with her tongs works every time, much to the amusement of drivers behind her.

'There’s a person behind me, they always laugh at me. I watch them in the rearview mirror.'

'But you know what? I’d rather be that weirdo with the tongs who’s lowkey kind of smart than that person who’s like unbuckling and opening the door—how embarrassing.'

Brittany's video has since gone viral, racking up more than 350,000 views, with many hailing the tip as 'genius', 'brilliant' and 'best ever'.

One viewer even suggested that the tong trick could prevent accidents and damage to boom gates caused by drivers leaning out too far to reach the ticket and accidentally accelerating.

'I am taking this idea. My short arm just can’t anymore,' another added.

'Best idea ever. I have short arms, so I always have to unbuckle or half open the door,' a third commented.

While a fourth said: 'I need this. I'm too short to grab anything!'

'This is so clever! I'm always scared I'm going to hit the machine so I park too far away and have to stretch out the window,' a fifth shared.

Have been doing this for yonks. I use kitchen tongs for so much, from reaching high or low stuff to cleaning out the fish tanks, so handy to lift items in and out of fish tank, not the fish, and I have a set just for this job. They are good for reaching under beds or cupboards as well. I sometimes have to use them to grab a small item of clothing out of my washing machine if I can’t reach it as well. I now take a pair when I go shopping so I can reach stuff on the high and low shelves at supermarket.

I’m in with the supermarket idea. Again today I had to ask another customer to reach the dog food from the top shelf

my thoughts are leading to what her boyfriend thinks of her 'sausage turners' in her car. 🤔😱🤣

I think that is a brilliant idea. The best people think outside the box. So cheap, so good. Well done. I am not as creative as others. So I appreciate anybody who comes up with brilliant ideas like this one.
