Discover the $20 Kmart item hailed as the best kitchen product of the year!

In the realm of kitchen gadgets and cookware, it's not every day that affordability meets excellence.

But when it does, it's worth shouting from the rooftops—or at least sharing with all our friends.

Today, we're talking about a $20 miracle from Kmart that's been stirring up quite the buzz.

It's the ANKO Hard Anodised Non-Stick Frypan ($20), and it's been named the BEST kitchen product of 2025.

This Kmart frypan is more than just a cooking utensil; it's a testament that you don't have to break the bank for quality kitchenware.

Available in three sizes—24cm for $20, 28cm for $24, and 32cm for $27—this pan has been crowned the winner in the Household/Kitchenware category at the prestigious 2025 Product of the Year Awards.

But what makes this award so special? Well, the Product of the Year is the world's largest consumer-voted award, focusing on product innovation and serving as a guide for shoppers looking to save time and money while finding the best items on the market.

The ANKO Hard Anodised Non-Stick Frypan stood out among the competition after more than 5,000 Australian shoppers cast their votes for their favourite supermarket and retail products.

The pan's stainless steel and hard-anodised aluminium construction, combined with three layers of non-stick inner coating, have made it stand out in both durability and ease of use.

Let's see what the customers are saying. With an average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5, this frypan is clearly not just a flash in the pan.

One satisfied customer shared, 'Great frying pan for the price. Outperforms some of the more expensive frying pans in my kitchen.'

Another added, 'These are economically priced and do the same job as a more expensive pan. It's great.'

And it's not just about the price; customers are thrilled with the quality. 'I recently purchased this frying pan as part of an upgrade to my kitchen cookware, and I am very happy with it. They are hard-wearing and very easy to clean. Excellent quality for people on a budget,' a review stated.

While the rave reviews are plentiful, some users have noted that the thickness of the pans means they take a little ‘longer to heat up’.

But even this slight drawback comes with a silver lining, as one customer pointed out, 'Very thick base and appears excellent quality despite the price. Takes a while to heat up due to this. Highly recommend though.'

The rigorous testing process behind the Product of the Year awards means that a panel of judges, comprising various industry experts, first assesses the products for quality, credibility, and innovation.

Only after passing this initial scrutiny do the products go on to be reviewed and voted on by thousands of Australians.

This ensures that when you see the Product of the Year seal, you're getting an item that has been thoroughly vetted and approved by experts and everyday consumers.

Don't need another frypan
I foolishly believed that buying expensive cookware was the best way to go for longevity. And over the last few years have purchased quite a lot of "Brand"name cookware only to find that the non stick surface lasts no longer than cheaper brands, I only use non scratch scrubbing pads but have found I could have paid less than half of the money paid by buying cheaper brands like Änko that have the same type of non stick surface, lesson learned, most of my "non Stick" bakeware and frying pans now need Baking paper to achieve the non stick surface I want, looks as if I will have some rather curious/quaint looking plant pots in the garden for a while,as I update my cookware to the Änko Pans collections shown in the above post, luckily my sauce pans are all stainless steel so that is a relief, no replacements needed there. Thats me a soon to be a poorer Stupid me:rolleyes:

I am not a fan of stainless steel cookware. Unless you use copious amounts of oil or butter, food, especially meat, sticks so much you need a jackhammer to remove it!
Everybody is different what they like to cook with. Stainless steel doesn't need high heat. I don't use copious amount oil for mine. Just a bit when warming it.

I use very little oil or butter in my stainless steel cookware & also cook over low heat. Ive even cooked meat with no oil at all with no sticking problems. I used non stick for years but got tired of replacing them, then discovered my stainless steel pans tucked away in a cupboard. They are so much easier to cook with.
