Discover Australia's Biggest Lolly Shop Right in Melbourne!

Good news, everyone! Australia’s largest lolly store has just opened in Melbourne.

Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse opened their doors on the 11th of November and has been a sensation ever since. The sheer selection is enough to surprise and amaze. From traditional Aussie lollies, to international sweets from France, Turkey, the US, the UK, South Africa, and more, you're guaranteed to find something for your sweet tooth.

A food blogger wrote that they counted over thirty different types of Kit Kats, including one special variety which was churros flavoured! The store is hoping to break a world record for their particularly sizable pick and mix section, where you can find over 1000 treats for any occasion.

But the real centrepiece is the three and a half metre tall human claw machine. You slide down, reaching for delights to take home with you! The store even has giant characters from the Simpsons and a roving Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse was first opened by Tom Jeanes forty years ago, however, it was purchased in 2021 by Adiel Ben-Karmona who is determined to keep the legacy alive.

‘At the end of the day, we want Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse to be a place that inspires anyone who walks through our doors, young or old, to bring some fun to their day-to-day lives,' he said, 'a place where they can expect the unexpected. Tom’s motto will always be: come for the experience we offer & the lollies are a bonus'.

What does your favourite sweet treat contain? Lollies predominantly contain sugar - it's often the first ingredient listed on the packet. It might not be the best news for your dentist, but a little sugar goes a long way in satisfying a sweet tooth, provided we remember to treat it as a treat, and not a staple in our diet.

Then, there are glucose or corn syrups, another form of sugar used to give lollies that perfect, chewy texture. While not all sugars are made equal, they should still be consumed with care. These syrups can give you that quick energy boost but they can also lead to roller coaster dips in the energy levels afterwards.

Natural and artificial food dyes are used to attract the eye and make the lollies more appetising. However, for those watching out for food dyes, they can sometimes cause mild to moderate allergic reactions.

Finally, flavourings! Here's where the creativity and the irresistible taste lies. From churros-flavoured Kit Kats and Black Forest Gummies to honeycomb delights, the options are practically endless. While delightful, it's advisable to enjoy these flavours responsibly due to their high sugar content.

Key Takeaways

  • Australia's largest lolly shop has been launched by an Australian confectionary company in Melbourne.
  • The store offers more than 30,000 varieties of lollies from all around the world, including the US, UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey, and the Netherlands.
  • Inside the store, shoppers can find giant characters from The Simpsons and a tyrannosaurus rex, and one of the store’s biggest attractions is a human claw machine, which allows people to grab and keep treats.
  • Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse aims to offer more than just confectionery selection; it seeks to provide an exceptional experience for anyone who walks through its doors.

Ultimately, while the lolly wonderland at Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse is full of delicious treats waiting to be discovered, it being Australia's largest lolly store doesn’t mean you should eat all the lollies at once! Balance and moderation are key. After all, remember – treats are meant to be, well, a treat!

So, what are you waiting for, members? Bring your family and friends and be sure to head down to Tom’s Confectionery Warehouse to experience the goodness this epicentre of sweet treats has to offer! Here’s hoping they have some nostalgic treats for us all.

As if the diets of those living in the western suburbs of Melb aren't already bad enough. Bound to be next to the Mcdonalds, KFC, Subway and all the other poor food choice outlets. A tonne of sugar on sale. Hope there's also a diabetes Australia site close by with photos of the end result of over consumption of 'lollies'.

I'm not familiar with Melbourne's suburbs, but the western suburbs don't eat healthy? It that a sweeping statement, or the facts with every household in those suburbs? Rather sad if that's the case.

I have visited this place over the years, 4 times in total, and I was in awe of the amount of people there buying up large not all for personal consumption. Many of the customers were buying for weddings, birthdays etc.
We are heading to Melbourne this weekend; I wonder if we will have time to "shop".

Where is it?!!!

I’m positive there was a Tom’s confectionery warehouse in Brisbane around Clayfield , not sure if it is still there .
I have never been in the shop , driven past it , you always saw the ad’s on tv especially around Easter .
Why would we stuff our faces with all the food colouring and flavouring to taste better and sweeter ? I wish there were some healthier shops who sell nutritious snacks . There are some small businesses who sell their natural and nutritious products to cafe’s and chocolate stores . We definitely should change our lifestyle for better options and not bringing more sweets on the market .

I googled this last night and it did say there was one in Brisbane.

There are stores called The Source Bulk Foods which sell all types of organic or other types of foods and are plastic/waste free. I have bought their freeze dried dark chocolate strawberries or raspberries or dark chocolate macadamias. Not cheap though, so I don't buy them very often.

There is a business called Pogballs , they are Vegan friendly , Dairyfree , Gluten-free but there are peanuts in them . They are delicious, come in dark, milk and white chocolate. They do deliver , I believe the owner sells from home as well . This is in Warner Qld. I was given a box of these from my daughter in law and she knows that I mainly eat clean natural food . There is also an organic Café /shop in Samford who sells beautiful slices and you would not know how good they are . Also not cheap , just a nice treat so now and then .

That's sounds good too. The Source Bulk Stores are in lots of places. Sunny Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast lots of places in southern states as well.

Well, move over Willy Wonka.
I am not much of a warehouse/bulk shopper. I would get carried away with the so called bargains and end up buying too much of something I don't need anyway. So, I don't go.
I'm pretty sure if this shop was to open in Newcastle I would give it a wide berth, and certainly, not take kids there at all. Mind you, hubby would want to go "just for a look". I can't even trust him not to sneak a packet of sweets, or sugared popcorn, in the shopping trolley, so, I rarely let him come with me.
It's a jungle out there.
