Die Hard 2 star Tom Bower passes away at 86

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Tom Bower, a talented and versatile actor who passed away peacefully at his Los Angeles home. He was 86 years old.

His sister-in-law, Mary Miller, confirmed news about his death to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tom Bower's acting journey began in the early 1970s, quickly becoming a familiar face on big and small screens.

He was best remembered for portraying Marvin, the helpful janitor in the 1990 action-packed blockbuster Die Hard 2.

In this iconic sequel, Bower's character assisted Bruce Willis' John McClane in thwarting terrorists, adding a touch of humanity and humour to the high-stakes narrative.

Before his memorable appearance in Die Hard 2, Bower had established himself as a prolific actor.

Throughout the 1970s, he appeared in popular television series Kojak, The Blue Knight, Two-Minute Warning, and The Rockford Files.

One of Bower's most significant roles came in 1975 when he joined the cast of the heartwarming family drama The Waltons.

He played Dr Curtis Willard, a staple character on the show until 1978.

In a candid 2022 interview with his former co-star Judy Norton, Bower humorously recounted his departure from the show.

'I asked for a small raise, so they sent me to Pearl Harbor,' he quipped.

His time on The Waltons remained a cherished part of his career.

After The Waltons, Bower continued to work steadily, gracing television screens in acclaimed shows such as NYPD Blue, NCIS, Monk, The X-Files, and Law & Order.

His most recent performance was in the 2023 series Lucky Hank, and despite his eighties, he kept up with the industry well.

Fans and colleagues alike offered tributes, and screenwriter Simon Underwood took to social media to express his sentiments.

'Farewell Tom Bower. A face you were always glad to see pop up,' Underwood wrote in a post.

His passing is a poignant reminder of the transient nature of life and the enduring legacy left behind by those who share their talents with the world.
