Peanuts can be used to make dynamite. When extracted, peanut oil can be turned into glycerol, which can then make nitroglycerine, an unstable explosive substance used in dynamite. In a safer state, glycerol is also used for soaps, creams, and various food products.

You can fly from Perth to Melbourne faster than you can fly from one end of Western Australia to the other.

(The average flight time for direct flights from Melbourne to Perth is 4 hours and 10 minutes. The average distance by plane from Melbourne to Perth is 2700 kilometres.) (In WA from south) - from Manjimup (up to the northwest) - Drysdale River is 2560kms and requires multiple flights, allow 15 hours.

Julius Caesar and Cleopatra are closer to us in time then they were to the building of the great pyramid at giza.

They lived around 2100 years ago, but the great pyramid was built 4600 years ago - i.e. around 2500 years before they were born!

This one always blows my mind.

The most successful pirate in History, was a woman. Ching Shih was a Chinese woman who was a prostitute. The top pirate of the day took a fancy to her, married her and when he died, she took over the business. She commanded at least 80,000 men and about 1,800 ships (the Caribbean pirates usually had one ship and crew). She was so successful, that the Chinese emperor/government negotiated with her and ASKED her to just walk away from piracy without being prosecuted in any way. She did and died of old age. She did get bored before she died and opened up a gambling place.
