If it doesn’t quote your name and TFN, it is not from the ATO. If in doubt, call the ATO on their advertised enquiry number. Never click on any email that says you have a message or some urgent matter to deal with, no matter where it claims to be from. These thieves are just trying to scare you into giving away information that will allow them to steal your funds. Get that “Delete” button working!

I have blocked 18 numbers from the same caller and they keep changing the numbers, one by one. Their calls are coming from Sydney according to the info by the providers BUT that could be totally wrong IF they are using a proxy server. That would almost be a certainty so most times my phone doesn't ring me ..Just records the call in stats, and I NEVER call back. The only call that I would even thinks of calling back ARE those that leave a message that indentifies the caller and then I wouldn't call back unless they are already on my contact list.
The caller numbers are computer-generated, so they could originate from anywhere in the world and display a local prefix to the number - 02, 07, etc. Your provider recognizes the call as a SPAM caller and blocks the caller. The call is silent (no ringing). However, it's recorded on your list of calls as SPAM. Some of these callers then use another number and leave a message; they'll be around the same time as the blocked SPAM, delete them.

I received a message supposedly from one of the big Banks telling me my account had been
Frozen something to do with my Credit Card . . The Bank named was not even the one I have ever had dealings with.
