David Warner unveils the $1200 bottle of wine Cricket Australia drank to celebrate their win over the West Indies

Australian Test side cricketers have changed tastes these days — especially when it comes to celebrating their victories.
Gone are the days when a celebratory VB would do following a long week; instead, Aussie cricketers now stick to expensive bottles of sought-after wine.
On Sunday night, after Australia stepped into its 2nd consecutive bang-up victory over the West Indies in this series' match-up, star cricketer David Warner posted exactly how he and his teammates celebrated the huge win — with a decade-old bottle of Penfolds Grange!
The 2012 vintage of one of Australia’s most celebrated wines is said to cost anywhere from $949 to $1200.
Retailer Dan Murphy’s describes the full-bodied dry wine as ‘unmistakably complex, flamboyant, and lifted’ with an ‘earthiness’ infused with the ‘aromas of dark fruits, grounded coffee, red liquorice, and black olives’.
Warner captioned the image ‘Grange ball’ after Australia beat the West Indies in a 419-run thrashing. The victory secured the team a 2-0 series.
Daily Mail Australia notes that VB, previously a sponsor of the Test, hasn’t been seen post-victory in change rooms in recent times.
In last year’s T20 World Cup, they noted that Warner’s brewery SAB (St. Andrews Beach Brewery) made frequent appearances in team celebrations.
Warner is a co-owner of the business, along with star jockey Tommy Berry and the Freedman brothers (of horse racing).
In addition, Ricky Ponting, a legendary skipper of the team, also launched his range of wines that take inspiration from his storied career.
For example, Ponting 366, the maiden offering of Ponting’s wine range, takes its name from his distinction as Australia’s 366th test cricketer. Neat, right?
Meanwhile, the Aussie cricketers will now face South Africa after their defeat of the West Indies.
South Africa is the world’s third-ranked Test side.
If Australia defeats them, it’s not too far-fetched to expect another vintage to pop open!
Fox Sports notes that in their win over the West Indies, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc pulled off exceptional performances.
The accolade, however, did not extend to Warner, who they noted had an ‘ugly’ outing — so much so that apparently, fans are starting to question his place in Australia’s starting XI.
Well, we hope for a better game next time for every Aussie!
So, what is your reaction to this news? Do you have any celebratory traditions you’d like to share?
