Dangerous discovery! Pre-packaged salad from ALDI leads to a serious medical emergency

Pre-packaged food might be convenient, but it’s not always safe. Stories of finding animals and foreign objects inside produce bags have been coming to light recently, and in one instance, a woman even found a serrated knife inside her sandwich from Subway. So, while these stories are baffling to hear or read about, they do happen to a lot of unsuspecting customers.

And unfortunately, this is what happened to one shopper who found a nasty surprise in one of ALDI’s packaged food items.

An ALDI shopper has issued an urgent warning to fellow customers to be on the lookout for ‘surprises’ while shopping for pre-packaged food at the supermarket.

The shopper revealed that while eating the salad they bought at ALDI, her husband felt something ‘pierce his mouth’ and discovered something dangerous inside the produce.

‘This is what we found in a packet of ALDI salad tonight,’ she wrote in a post to social media.

The shopper continued: ‘Unfortunately, it was in the salad… My husband felt a hard object pierce his mouth while eating the salad.’

She attached a photo of what her husband found inside his food: a small, rusty piece of metal that looks like it’s already been used somewhere.

‘As you can see it was rusted,’ the shopper said before adding that she and her husband had to go to the doctor for a tetanus injection.

‘Please be careful when purchasing a pre-packaged salad,’ the shopper warned in her post.

A spokesperson for ALDI told reporters that customers should lodge any issues with their products to the ALDI Help Centre.

‘We strongly encourage customers to bring issues to our attention directly via the ALDI Help Centre so we can review,’ they said.

The spokesperson also shared that they have not received this complaint directly and have yet to follow up with an investigation. They did not offer any further comments on the matter.

This comes after a Woolworths customer also made a gruesome discovery in their pre-packed salad. Only this time, the find was more disgusting than it was deadly.

Sharing on Facebook, the customer said that she found a Band-Aid inside her meal. And what’s worse, she made the discovery after she started eating the salad. Yikes! The customer acted immediately and returned to her local store, hoping products with the same batch number would be removed from the shelves. However, when she returned, she found that the products were still being sold in the store.

A representative from Woolworths said they were unaware of the reports but reassured the customer that they were investigating the incident. Read what Woolworths had to say about the matter in this article.

In Australia, strict regulations and standards are in place to ensure the safety of food sold in supermarkets and other food outlets. All food businesses, including manufacturers and suppliers, are responsible for producing safe food. Produce must meet criteria in the Food Safety Standards code, which is managed and enforced by the Australian government and state and territory governments.

Despite that, it’s becoming increasingly common to find bizarre, gross, or deadly items inside pre-packaged food or turning up in takeaways. In one instance, a woman found a redback spider inside her newly-bought bag of seedless grapes from Woolies. Though redbacks aren’t necessarily dangerous, thanks to antivenom, the woman still urged other shoppers to wash their produce thoroughly before eating. You can read more about this story here.

An ex-Woolies staff member claimed that this happens ‘all the time’ because it’s a part of ‘nature’ and it’s common to find live animals inside pre-packaged food.

But how can you explain finding a live bat (yes, you read that right) inside a Macca’s takeaway bag? In a post to the popular social media forum Reddit, the woman said her dad was forced to seek medical attention after discovering that a small bat was nestled inside the paper bag of their most recent takeaway order. Although baffled by the discovery, she said she and her family aren’t interested in making a big deal out of the experience. More details can be read here.

The first people I would let know about this would be the store I bought it from and make sure I had photos. So many people put it on Facebook etc before alerting the store,I don’t understand that.

it looks like a peace of the machine so if you told the store them they can tell the supplier and get the problem fixed machines brake down or check to see if there was a supplier on the packet and tell them they may be very grateful for the info

I don't know why people buy these pre packaged salads when they're so easy to make yourself and you know what's in the salad. Finding all these foreign things in these salads turns me off buying any of them.
