It's funny how a person's memory can be stirred. I was about 18yrs old and just moved into a mixed house (an old mansion) with about five uni-students in Perth. While weeding the back garden for a house inspection about three weeks in, I discovered a box underneath it, chock full of at least forty totally illegal signs,

It was the scariest box I had ever seen in my life. Evidently an earlier tenant must have progressively gone out and disconnected them and brought them home and hid them under the house. I put a pair of garden gloves on and carried the heavy box out to my car. In the very early morning, absolutely terrified having them in my vehicle, I placed them on the footpath just down from the police building and drove off.

The Superintendent, police. police vehicles only, etc signs, weren't the scary ones. It was the slow, give way, school and the stop signs that horrified me. Whoever had done this was a total idiot.... this is the first time I have ever told this story in public.

At least you did the right thing in leaving it close to the police station so they would find it.
