Check out this throwback to 1965 of kids having a blast in their homemade cubby house! Back then, all you needed was some wooden planks, a bit of imagination, and your best mates to create the ultimate hideaway. No fancy gadgets, just pure fun and creativity. Anyone else remember building epic forts in the backyard? Share your adventures here!

There was always a competition who could build the best cubby house, we lived near the river in country Victoria in the 1950’s.I had a friend whose father was a builder, so we always had bits of wood to use for the sides - often used tree branches for the roof. We had so much fun as kids, as soon as we had our meal & helped clean up we would be out the door to see what our next play adventure would be. None of this sitting inside looking at laptops.

Had to look at that photo really closely, thought someone was using photos of me in our backyard. That's almost identical to one I built a long time ago, about the only thing different is mine had one of mum's old sheets as a roof.....looked like half cubby and half indian teepee in the finish. Hell we had fun as kids building these in the backyard....then it was down to the local park to kick a footy on the oval or down to the Yarra river for a swim and jumping from branches into the water, then on the way home scouring about at the local tip for any good finds....boy there was heaps of great finds that people had chucked out. Great adventures as a young kid in our neighborhood.😊
