'Creepy' discovery behind bathroom wall will send chills down your spine!

Members, if you're a fan or avid reader of fantasy novels, you're probably already well familiar with the trope of a mysterious house with hidden passageways and rooms. (Even the famous Harry Potter has his own hidden nook under the stairs.)

When thinking about settings like these, have you ever wondered whether or not they exist in real life? What if we told you that some houses actually do contain hidden rooms and passages; would you believe us?

Throughout history, people have built all kinds of homes with secret passageways and hidden rooms.

For some, these secret places have a specific use. Maybe they worry that someday, they'll have to find a spot to hide from intruders. Or perhaps they have valuables that require discreet safekeeping.

But for others, though, there can be a darker, more horrifying mystery contained in these hidden places…

Such is the case for one couple from England who, while investigating their new home, unearthed a rather disturbing secret – it was so terrifying that even the pictures appear to be out of a horror flick!

Up until recently, Carolyn and Steven Sparks of East Sussex were blissfully unaware that their Victorian-era home had a basement. There was no mention of the basement when they were purchasing the home, and neither of them had ever seen the door beforehand.

Nothing about all of that really bothered them, but it was what lay beyond the door that gave them the creeps.

The walls were crumbling, there was debris everywhere, and in one corner was a single iron bed frame, rusting and covered in dust.

'It wasn't on the agents' details, and nor did we see it when we viewed the property,' the owner revealed in an interview on Friday. 'It's easily missed as it's accessed via a little toilet, so not really a room you'd go into and look at in great detail.'

An architect came across the secret entrance while inspecting the cramped bathroom, and at that same moment, she pulled out her phone to record the shocking find.

In the footage, we see the door swing open to reveal a flight of stairs leading to the basement's hidden area. The owners are shown making their way down the stairs in the dark with flashlights in hand before they enter the narrow, scary room.

When the homeowners saw the creepy single bed frame that stretched over the full width of the little room, it gave them the chills.

'I thought it'd be funny to film as all we could see was cobwebs,' she said. 'But we didn't expect to find a single iron bed, so it was definitely a little bit freaky!'

'That situation alone, never mind finding a child's bed down there, just added to the weird situation,' she added.

Upon further investigation, they later found out that the creepy room was actually a Victorian-era coal storage space, not a haunted chamber.

Although it is unknown why a bed frame was placed inside the secret chamber, the couple has not yet removed it from the room. Their daughter even considered making a horror film project in the room, featuring the bed as a creepy set piece.

After finding that the hidden area gives necessary access to the plumbing beneath the property, they chose to leave it open even after the renovations were finished.

So what do you think about this story, folks? What was your reaction—were you creeped out at all?

We also have to ask: what would you do if you were in the couple's shoes and discovered a hidden basement in your home? Don't be shy; drop a message with your thoughts and answers in the comments section below!

My husbands family lived in a huge really old farmhouse in the UK that had a priests hole. It also had a door in the kitchen that led to the creepy old kitchen servants quarters. There was a room also off the kitchen that had hooks on the ceiling that was the meat store, the walls wouldn't hold any paint due to the amount of salt they had absorbed. In the garden after clearing out an overgrown tree and flower bed they found a double loo, apparently in the olden days you poo'd with a friend!!!:ROFLMAO:

Should be forensically examined by Police, may have been a dungeon, You never know what people were hiding.

All the houses in my council estate when I was growing up in Scotland had a coal cellar.
They were mostly used for storage once coal was no longer used in homes. I would guess that’s why the old bed was there - just stored and forgotten.

I think I watched too many horror movies in my younger days. In a movie they would portray this room as something scary with the music and filming. These rooms still "creep" me out. I guess too many flashbacks from my younger days.

I would renovate the room in something else as a feature of the house 🤷🏻‍♀️😂😂

We've all read of Josef Fritzl in Austria, who imprisoned his daughter in his basement for 24 years. He fathered 7 children by her.
Then there were the creeps who hid Jaycee Dugard for 18 years, she had 2 children by her kidnapper.
What about Fred West, in England. He murdered his victims, and hid the bodies in his cellar.
Who knows how many others there have been?
So ....it's part of real life, unfortunately not just fiction.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a servants bed though they were more often sent to the attic.
