Yep, I definitely remember that. Running around shooting cap guns, hand over open mouth making the oh oh ah ah sounds.
Lots of fun.

We hid in a bush because we didn't want to go inside. Our parents were frantically looking for us.
We decided we better get out when one of our parents said they would have to call the Police

Loved those cap guns and playing Cowboys and Indians, also loved playing war games with my Dinky toys range of tanks, soldiers, troop carriers and army ducks etc.....the backyard at home was the site of many imaginary battles and gun fights with my older brother over the years. Happy memories.

My first dress up was a Zorro outfit, complete with cape, cap and a plastic sword with a chalk tip. There were chalk Z's on every wall and fence for miles

I was the lone girl so of course I was an Indian and died a lot, they called out to me to come and play cowboys and itchy bums. Good for a laugh ay 8 years old.

Played it often, with my two older brothers... naturally I was always the Indian.

Mum stopped us from playing, when she caught me with her best carving knife... I was determined to get a couple of scalps.

We lived next to a friendly bald neighbour, who I thought had been scalped, but mum told us was a war hero.

So I figured she would be happy to have two hero sons, and that they might be less nasty too.

Dad gave me a lesson in the difference between baldness and scalping, with the aid of his leather blacksmith's belt.
