As the winter nights creep closer and the weather gets colder, one of the biggest luxuries is sitting by the fireplace to stay warm. It's a source of comfort and the perfect place for quality family time – but one issue that comes with having a fireplace is finding a place to put the firewood.
So, if you’re on a budget but need somewhere to store wood for your fireplace, a certain Kmart item just might be the answer! Now, I know some of you are reading this from the sunshine state and to that, I say, can I visit? Just kidding!
Unfortunately, like everything else, firewood comes with plenty of costs. Not only do you have to buy the wood, but you also need a designated firewood storage area or unit.
These units come in all shapes and sizes and range in price from as low as $60 to a huge $495! But, no matter how you look at it, buying a firewood storage unit can be quite an expensive venture.
So instead of splashing the cash on an expensive, specialty unit, Samantha, a Kmart shopper who goes by @kmarthackqueen on social media, tried to find a unique and creative way to save potentially hundreds of dollars on storing her firewood.
After some careful thought, she went to her local Kmart and purchased the store's $42 metal-tiered plant stand to store the wood for her new fireplace.
The results, according to Samantha, have been more than satisfactory.
‘Don't have to spend over $400 on a wood rack! Go to Kmart and purchase a Metal Tiered Plant Stand for $42. Looks good and great size for putting different size wood logs,’ she said in her post online.
According to the product description, Kmart’s Metal-Tiered Plant Stand is made from iron and has a maximum weight capacity of 3kg per tier – you can be sure it’s sturdy enough to hold the weight of a few pieces of firewood.
The plant stand has four tiers and can be used indoors or outdoors.
Customers who bought the item said they were happy with their purchase.
‘Very sturdy and spacious,’ one wrote.

Meanwhile, another Kmart shopper used the tiered plant stand in a completely different way.
'My kids have taken this over as a ball rack. The best one we've had too. One day I'll use it for plants,' she said.
