Cottee’s soft drinks

Do you remember drinking Cottee's refreshing soft drinks? Although Cottee's was more famous for its delicious cordials, it also entered the soft drink market. The flavours Passiona, Tango, Lime Coola, and various others were very popular in the 50s and 60s.

We were refugees from Poland, very poor but clean and happy. I still recall the first time my Father came home and placed on the kitchen table bottles of glorious yellow, green and red liquid. My Sisters and I stared in wonder but were told "these are for the visitors tomorrow" and not to be touched. Dad put the bottles into the trough in the laundry. My fascination stayed with me all day and so that night I lay in bed until the lights went out, crept into the laundry and in the dim light touched these marvellously coloured bottles. Scooted back to bed and then the following day after the visitors left little portions of this left over liquid was shared between the three of us children. No I didn't experience a "hit" from the sugary liquid and still preferred water and milk and to this day only purchase lemonade for visitors...Halina

loved Passiona but the one that hit the spot in our house was Lime Coola which made the greatest Lime Icecream Soda.
Lime Coola was my go to if I had the money to buy it.
Soft drinks were a luxury and there was "plenty of water in the tap" which meant no you can't have one.
I can still taste it, it was great.
