Cooking Class 4 Fluffy Steamed Rice

I told you I'm going back to basics and believe it or not , some people don't know how to make a perfect rice.
Once you make the rice you can serve casserole or pasta sauce on top.
Or fry chopped onion, bacon then add to rice along with an omelette chopped and shallots.

White Rice
Ingredients
1 cup white rice , either long grain or med
375 mls of cold water.
Method
1. Rinse water in a saucepan under water.
2 Leave rice in saucepan, add water.
3 . Place on high heat until it starts to boil , then reduce heat to low and place lid on and simmer for 15 minutes. No stirring or removing lid.
4. Remove from heat , using a FORK fluff the rice .
It's now ready to use.
Brown Rice
INGREDIENTS
1 Cup brown rice medium or long grain
3 litres cold water
METHOD
1. Bring water to boil in a medium saucepan. Add rice, then boil gently until rice is just cooked, around 39 minutes
2 Drain rice in a fine strainer . Tip excess water out of pot.
Return rice to pot, cover and place it on the just turned off stove to rest for 10 minutes
Fluff up with a fork . Ready to use.
JASMINE RICE
Cooked the same as white rice except 1 cup of rice to 315mls water (1 1/4 cups)
Basmati rice
Cook exactly as white rice except use 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups water ( 375mls )
