Controversial Ex-TV Host Reveals Surprising Next Chapter After Getting Fired from Network

It’s no secret that, no matter what the circumstances, getting the sack stings. But just because you’ve been fired from one job, doesn’t mean you can’t use the lesson and make something positive out of it.

That's exactly what Chris Smith, an ex-TV and radio host, has taken away from his recent job loss.

It has been a rollercoaster few months for the 60-year-old TV presenter who has recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons, with bosses from both networks deciding to terminate his contracts after a 'drunken' incident at the Sky News Christmas party in Sydney.

Reports at the time suggested Smith made lewd comments during the event and left a colleague in tears after he 'called out to a female member of staff, asking if they wanted him to “hear their confession”.'

Smith took to Facebook to issue a grovelling apology, saying he was 'beyond gutted and devastated' to know he had 'upset' his colleagues.

'I apologise profusely to the women I upset,' he wrote, expressing his regret for the incident at the time.

'That’s not the man I am at work, ever, as they will all attest. They have been so supportive to me and do not deserve such drunken treatment.'

'I have a recurring problem with alcohol... it sends me manic.'

Reports say Smith wasn’t reprimanded for the incident at his workplace at the time, but after the allegations made serious waves, 2GB and Sky terminated Smith’s contracts.

He continued: 'I am also terribly upset about humiliating myself with people I respect and admire. I have been blessed to call them close colleagues.'

'I pride myself on my professionalism and work ethic but I have dropped the ball and embarrassed many people including those I love most - my family. I am very sorry.'

In an unexpected turn of events, Smith has taken to social media to share an update about his recovery.

It’s been revealed that Smith is '50 days sober', news that was warmly welcomed by his supporters on the platform.

The radio host also posted a photo of himself enjoying the outdoors.

One person commented: '50 days of being sober is such an achievement! Anyone who’s been through any sort of issue like this knows how difficult it is.'

'Well done, Chris! We all have our challenges and mountains to climb,' another encouraged.

'This is yours. But you have a lot of support from men and women.'

Other fans said they were excited to have Smith back on the air.

One fan wrote: 'Come on we need you back on the radio nobody compares to you as interesting and as funny, and all of your weekend listeners miss you.'

'Good on you, miss you and the sound of your voice,' another added.

A third chimed in: 'Great work Chris and I hope to see and hear you again on the airwaves.'

This is not the first time Smith has been accused of poor behaviour at a Christmas party. In 2009 he allegedly harassed four female colleagues at the 2GB staff party.

At the time, Smith said he was 'drunk on champagne and red wine and “loaded on the wrong antidepressants”.'

How is this relevant to a Seniors' Discount Club? Was he getting rat-arsed at Mates' Rates? Did he, during his 50 Days, fall victim to a "Sobriety Scam"?
I'm almost surprised that the author didn't chuck in a gratuitous "X-Rated!" reference.

Seeing as we had the earlier story of his downfall it's good to get the update. Hopefully this time he will have learned a lesson and that his 50 days turns into many years. 50 days isn't that very long in the great scheme of things but may have seemed like a lifetime to him. Here's to his continuing sobriety and being a nicer person to be around at parties. :)

Seams he’s apologizing to himself and his family, not the victim. It amazes me how these people continue to go on with the same thing and still retain top paying jobs just like all these sports people that muck up, but always seem to end back on top like nothing ever happened.
