All such clothing for that area of human body and, which is used by all age groups' people is simply a filter; think about what is covered by and what happens inside the clothing item generally to be caught within the cloth whilst it is being worn, compared with what is apparent on the outside. They are not 'jocks', 'boxers', 'knickers' or whatever else noun is frequently used, they are "filters" of gas, liquid, moistened 'solids' and light.
Primarily as we move out of infant ages and need the privacy cover (which is why we wear clothes) the clothing item filters the light to cause the inside image to be not visible to any onlooker's eyes; occasionally there can be some bodily discharge in to the clothing.
So let's change the English language definition and call all undergarments, nappies, jocks et cetera, "Filters"?
