Community mourns as two lifelong friends pass away in tragic collision

The tight-knit community of Jurien Bay has been left in mourning after the tragic loss of two of its most cherished members, Coral Seinor and Thelma Clausen, who were killed in a fatal crash near Cooljarloo.

The news has sent shockwaves through the town, with tributes flowing for the pair, who were not just close friends but pillars of the community for over half a century.

Coral and Thelma were the epitome of lifelong friends, having shared the journey of life side by side since they arrived in Jurien Bay in the 1960s.

Their commitment to the community was perhaps most evident in their founding of the Jurien Bay branch of the Country Women's Association (CWA) in 1971.

The CWA, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and families, particularly in rural areas, became a focal point for their efforts to contribute to the town's growth and spirit.

The tragic accident occurred as they drove to Badgingarra, about 200 kilometres north-east of Perth, for an annual choir and drama event.

Their lives were cut short in a collision involving their vehicle and a road train, leaving fellow CWA members who arrived first on the scene in shock and grief.

The driver of the four-wheel drive, former Collingwood footballer Shannon Cox, has been charged over the crash.

Pauline Ward, a friend who met the pair in 1978, shared her heartache, describing the loss as 'disbelief, devastation, a terrible sense of loss, just the worst’.

‘They will always be loved and remembered as remarkable icons of the Jurien Bay community and of CWA because they were just so giving and talented and sharing—they were just two of the best,’ she said.

Pauline reminisced about the joyous times they had, saying, ‘We had many fun times celebrating just about anything like royal weddings, births of all the babies—anything that was an excuse for us to get together with our other friends.’

The impact of Coral and Thelma's passing extended beyond their immediate circle, with dozens of messages pouring in on social media, reflecting on the kindness and support the duo provided to the community.

Helen Fauntleroy's tribute encapsulates the sentiment of many: 'From the moment we arrived in Jurien over 50 years ago, they were there to help, advise or just be our friends.'

‘So many family events happened with their help, whether it be making a wedding dress or catering for a hungry mob.’

As the Jurien Bay CWA and the wider community come to terms with this profound loss, they send their heartfelt sympathy and love to the families of both women.

Very sad indeed for the 2 ladies & being the victims. Sounds very much that the Road Train driver played an extremely crucial part in most likely causing the fatal crash. Was he under some type of "Uppers" to keep him going on a long trip ?
The article says the person charged was driving a four-wheel-drive. The Road Train driver wasn't mentioned.

One would agree to disagree about this tragic disaster. The contents mention the ladies car, a road train & a 4 wheel drive vehicle. So what happened ? Did the driver of the 4 wheel vehicle try to o/take the ladies car & the road train in one go ? The contents don't really clarify what happened. Was one of the vehicles travelling in the opposite direction, which I doubt ? Everything is up for conjecture on clarity to what actually occurred about the tragic disaster.

I didn't insinuate that all truck drivers do any sort of drugs. But, I do feel that some push their trucks to the limit in one way or another. That is why my wife & self just simply don't drive on highways after dark. Just too dangerous.

I read the actual news article and it stated that the crash was between the road train and a four wheel drive. The driver of the four-wheel drive — former Collingwood footballer Shannon Cox — has been charged over the crash. It doesn't say how the two women were pulled into the mess.

My apologies to the members who pointed out there were more posts after I posted my answers. I had not realised that my little reply box was not the last and I had to go to the end of the pages before posting my response. Now that I'm aware of the pages I will post as the last person at that time. Thank you for the heads up to those who pointed out my error.
