OMG!!!!! There will always be some who complain about anything. There are 24 hours in a day and Coles opens 7 days a week. Surely you can organise your shopping otherwise than after 8pm. Something is radically wrong with your lifestyle or you are so downright lazy that you will only shop for deli items then? Even if that is you, the packaged deli items are excellent, with a huge range. Take a cold bag and buy on your way to work. Our Coles is 30 klms away and closes at 6pm but I have never heard anyone complain about that time. Staff shortage is a huge problem here in Queensland and we now have many lovely retirees on our local checkouts and the Deli.

Looks like we will be putting Coles on the Corso on our black listing following their closure of their Deli, seafood and meat counters in their Manly stores moving to only offering factory pre-packaged goods from factories who knows where and heaven only knows how fresh their produce is. Hopefully the larger Coles store in Wentworth street will continue to offer fresh deli and seafoods instead of this pre-packaged rubbish.
And another gripe we have with the Cross Coles store is their move to customer check outs which we refuse to use.

This will be another fuss about nothing like with self serve.

If that's what the supermarkets need to do then they'll do it. They don't suddenly decide to do it overnight. Would have been in consultation for quite a while.

At least it's only reduced hours and not actually closing them down, like the biggest supermarket company in the UK. They've announced they're closing all their deli's and hot counters by the end of the month losing 2,000 staff.

Seems like people don't know about business and would rather still have them open at all hours, fully staffed, even though they don't even use them. It's ok for the stores to lose money as long as they keep all their staff.

The change won’t impact all stores, however. Trading hours will still differ depending on the specific store, and some will be immune to this decision entirely.

As long as I know ok. I won’t die of ham starvation, all available pre packed, do I like it? Not really we are going backwards, but I see the reason for it and hope for better.
I remember half day Saturday nothing Sunday, after hours forget it. No bakers open so this is still better.

Coles, Woolworths etc, asked for extended hours years ago and it was approved, by Government. Now they have managed to undercut our local bakers, delicatessens and butcheries around the country and send them broke thus getting rid of competition. Once Coles, Woolworths etc, have achieved this, they want now to get rid of their own local bakers, delicatessens and butcheries and sell us prepackaged stuff from probably from one source, down south and we are supposed to agree with this. All Australians are being treated like mugs and with contempt by these by these Companies. Wake up Australia, next they will want to come back to 9 AM to 530PM shopping, during work weekdays, and 9AM to 1PM on Saturdays, now that they have got rid of all the competition.

Yes I remember the opening hours that are being spoken of. M-F close at 5.30pm, Sat close 12 or 12pm. I do most of my shopping before 1pm 2 days a week and use public transport. If I need anything heavy I wait until Sat when hubby's home with the car. So it wouldn't effect me that much.

It really doesn’t worry me, as I do my deli shopping elsewhere what I don’t like is there new register that you use and stack your own bags and then pay, I asked if there was any discount if we use them, she said no, i don’t think customers should use them as you are taken away a job that usually was filled by part time students to earn extra money for themselves and the other thing people should stop using there phones to pay for there items one day you will be hacked please be careful

The worst thing is when you go to the Coles Christmas Party, they throw you out and say you are not an employee of Coles, but you tell them that you have been using their self-checkouts for over a year, you should be a qualified Coles employee by now. I reckon that is a bit rough by Coles,

I no longer buy meat from Coles or Woolworths as it is all prepackaged. I like to get my meat fresh so I buy freshly cut meat from Drakes or Foodland. I will also not want to purchase prepackaged deli items as when I last picked up ham prepackaged it tasted terrible. Be losing more customers.

Coles forestville have recently double the self service checkiuts to 14 and reduced the serviced to 3. I am 5 mins away from 2 woolworths and aldi so here I come. PS i worked for a department store chain when we clised at 5.30 m-f and 12 on saturday. Latter year opened one night to 9pm
