Coles shopper shocked to discover price of cauliflower does NOT match its size: “Baby size but not baby price”

Higher prices on petrol, coffee, grocery items – basically just about everything – have many Aussie shoppers paying closer attention to the quality of items they buy on a daily basis, especially at the grocery store.
It’s perfectly valid – who wouldn’t want to get the best bang for their buck, right?
That is probably why this shopper is complaining about the “quality” of a common grocery item at her local Coles store.

On the forum site Reddit, one woman shared that she was ‘disappointed’ at the available products in her supermarket’s fresh produce section.
She snapped a photo showing two cauliflowers on her grocery cart, and one of them can be seen obviously much bigger than the other – beside the two veggies is a banana for comparison.
One would expect that the smaller sized one is significantly cheaper than the larger one, right?
Unfortunately, no. That wasn’t the case here.
While the whole version looks to be of regular size, the smaller cauliflower is not even half of the regular-sized one, yet its size does not match its price.
“$9 for the whole and $5.50 for the ‘half’,” complained the woman, adding: “I know things are getting smaller, but really?”
The woman’s post amassed a number of responses from fellow shoppers, with most of them, including the woman herself, making fun of the situation.
“What is this? Cauliflower for ants?!!” quipped one user.
Meanwhile, a second user used it as an opportunity to joke about the rising supermarket prices and the $250 one-off payment that is said to “help individuals meet the rising cost of living pressures”.
“Ahh, I see you’ve invested your $250 bonus from Scott and Josh. Hopefully, you have enough change to buy fuel for the trip home,” the user wrote. Another user continued the gag by saying: “At $3 per litre, no one is going home.”
Coles has already responded to the issue, saying that the cauliflower portions are not prepared in-store but by suppliers off-site to reduce food waste.
“There are specifications for all fresh produce supplied to Coles, and we will take this opportunity to review these with our growers to ensure they are consistent.”
