Coles MasterChef mini chopper causes injuries

Has anyone else experienced injuries with the Coles MasterChef mini chopper? My son’s girlfriend was trying to set it up and the blade sliced her hand open. Ambulance trip to hospital, emergency surgery and an expected 3 months rehabilitation. There were no instructions in the box and no evidence of the safety guard.

Oh my goodness @Daisyfizz how is she recovering? Is she okay? This is outrageous, I can't believe there are no instructions?!
