Coles Christmas Shopping

Remember when Christmas shopping meant a trip to your local Coles? Back then, it was more of a $2 shop—the ultimate spot for kids to hunt for Christmas gifts. The counters were just the right height, and you could buy items like Starlet makeup for Mum and Old Spice for Dad. There were also a variety of Embassy products like notebooks, pencils and erasers.

I remember working part time in Coles before Christmas. It was as you see in the photo. Basically variety goods only. Lots of Christmas decorations, wrapping paper and cards etc and loads of customers all looking for a bargain.

I worked in a Coles and Pennies many years past. Christmas was a mad rush of people. Loved it.

Yes, I loved shopping in Coles...lots of great memories of buying a cute doll, lollies ordered at the counter...snakes, jelly babies ect in a paper bag. Not to forget my collection of Partridge Family bubble gum cards! Shopping with my bestie buying books and jewellery. We collected thin colourful bangles! Plus a Christmas gift for a friend or my Mum....still have a cute sea shell thermometor in the shape of a lady I bought for my Mum in the 70's! A bee line into Coles of a Fri was a special treat after school and good country town hospitality...fond memories.
