Cockatoo enjoying a chocolate biscuit​

This cockatoo visits my garden regularly. He loves the bread I throw out for the various birds who come along. One day I threw out some left-over chocolate biscuits that I didn't want to add to my calorie intake. The cockatoo swooped on the biscuit and took it up to my roof for a snack. Notice how he is ignoring the bird spikes I installed to discourage birds from landing there.

@Jan A Not wanting to be negative. However if you didn't want the excess calories why give them to a much smaller creature. Also bread is really bad for ducks, so probably true for all birds I would think.

Years ago, I fed a crow a lead pellet and it died immediately. Too bad the first shot went through the barely visible neighbour's roof. Oops!

Caffeine, theobromine and animals don't mix. Feed a 10 kg dog a 250g block of dark chocolate and you will kill it. Cheaper than a vet except you really wouldn't see your dog vomit and crap profusely then go into uncontrolled seizures, resulting in death.

No worries! As I have stated before, I will support other SDC members who are criticised for stating facts by people from the "I think club". Well start thinking, research the facts and make an objective statement.

Throw your dumbarsed beliefs, faith, hopes and emotions out the window. And don't go down the knee jerk reactionary path AKA climate change zealots, relying on blogs created by stoners from Nimbin, shrouded in a haze of bong smoke, while picking out the splinters from hugging too many trees!

What a stupid thing to say ever seen an animal die from toxicity poisoning due to feeding them chocolate. I have as an ex vet nurse it’s people like you that shouldn’t have animals and it’s idiots like you why I stopped after just 12 months of doing something I loved.idiot.

Sorry to offend you but I have never overdone chocolate with our animals as I used commonsense which is lacking in our world nowadays. They may of had chocolate once or twice a year and only something small, people who aren’t used to animals don’t realise so they should check.
