Do you have an old car parked in your garage?
A British car company has initiated a project to turn classic cars into vehicles that you can drive in modern cities.
The Mini's Recharge project aims to replace the carburettor-fuelled machines inside the vehicles into a rechargeable technology with zero emissions.
The initiative came after the company announced that it will be introducing its last petrol-fuelled car in 2025, pledging that the future models will be all-electric and emission-free starting 2030.

Mini also offers a kit that allows enthusiasts to perform similar conversions on their own, saying that their official kit is completely reversible so owners who want to return their cars to their original specification will be able to do so.
The company has not yet released a price for the kit as of the moment, but owners who have tried converting their cars using components from the company estimated that the cost would be at least $20,000.
Additionally, other car manufacturers such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Lunaz Design, and Superformance also offer converting services for their classic car models.

Meanwhile, Australia is set to ban petrol and diesel cars in the coming years, as lobby groups push for the national policy of proper disposal of end of life vehicles.
It should be noted that Australia is the only developed country with no such policy, hence the federal government is being pressured to shift to electric cars.
The lack of national regulation for the process allows illegal operators to compete against legitimate car recyclers.
For those who are curious about how to convert a car into an electric vehicle, here’s a video of a man converting his mini cooper into an electric vehicle on a budget of $7,000 (US $5000).
