Cinemas in the '60s

Do you remember going to the cinemas in the ‘60s? Back then, meeting with friends or family to watch a movie outside was still a huge thing! There used to be usherettes offering ice cream, lollies, chocolates, and even cigarettes. People would also stand up for the national anthem.

What are your fondest memories of cinemas back in the day?

Don't remember the national anthem being played.
But there was usually a newsreel or short movie, then intermission before the main feature.
How times have changed, I get there 15 minutes late now to dodge the advertisements.
.... and the cinema is rarely more than 25% capacity.

Yes, it's all screened from Discs, I think, with VERY little Human interface. I believe one Technician can control a number of Cinemas at the same time.

I have very fond memories of the cinemas in the 60’s. My husband had a second job as an ice cream tray boy and I had a second job working on the candy bar. We were saving for our first home. What a wonderful time.
