Because you don't understand how a cats mind works, we cat lovers do. We can see the sly grin on it's face and how he's ticking it over in his brain before he pounces, and I bet he turned around to make sure no one was looking at him. Better still, he would have hoped the kids had been watching because they would never tell, to them it's entertainment!
