I must say I have heard EVERY ONE of his joke some 40 to 50 yrs ago.

Ranji I am 93 have you heard this one, towards the end of the war like Australia England was overrun with American military personnel, as well as having loads of good food and plenty of money to spend they also had plenty of Medal ribbons on their chest, one day this little boy walked up to an American and pointed to one of many ribbons and said what is that one for, the American with much proud in his voice said son that one was for not being seasick on the ship coming over here.
