Christmas delivery deadlines released by Australia Post
- Replies 0
With Christmas being only two months away, Australia Post has issued citizens a warning that this year’s haul is expected to be its biggest ever.
Therefore, the Post Office encourages everyone to send their holiday presents and Christmas cards as soon as possible if they want the items delivered by December 24.
For this year, the recommended domestic cut-off dates for parcels are:
Sending from anywhere in Australia (except WA and NT):
Customers sending to or from Perth, Darwin, or anywhere outside the metro are warned to mail their parcels earlier.
Aussies should send Christmas cards by December 16.
For overseas deliveries, no hard deadlines are expected, but cut-off dates vary depending on the destination. The Post Office warns customers to send their parcels “as soon as possible”.

Gary Starr, Australia Post’s Executive General Manager, said preparations for the peak season were already done, including expanding their casual team to more than four thousand members.
“We’re seeing record parcel volumes with more than 5.9 million households shopping online a month – that’s more than half of all Australian households, and it’s showing no signs of slowing as we head into the online sales season and Christmas,” Mr Starr said.
“That is why we’ve planned ahead with extra airfreight capacity, weekend deliveries and recruitment of thousands of new team members to ramp up our delivery services, parcel sorting and customer care, and we’ll be delivering right up until Christmas Eve.”
“We encourage people to make a note of these important delivery dates because although we‘ll deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as we can, they may not arrive until after Christmas.”
