Chocolate Cupcake in a Mug

Treat yourself to a beautiful dessert without waiting hours in the kitchen. You can quickly whip up a tasty mug cake in your microwave in under 5 minutes, using just a few simple ingredients, and enjoy a yummy treat whenever you like it.

Here’s what you'll need:

4 tbsp self-raising flour

4 tbsp caster sugar (feel free to swap this out for powdered sugar or diabetic-friendly alternatives like stevia)

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1 medium egg

3 tbsp milk

3 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil

A few drops of vanilla essence or another essence like peppermint or orange

2 tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or sultanas (optional)

If you have what you need, you can make these quick cupcakes with the following steps!

First, add the flour, caster sugar, and cocoa powder in a large mug and mix. It’s alright if it seems too large, as the batter will swell while it cooks. Crack in the egg and mix it in as well.

Next, pour in the milk, oil, and vanilla essence and mix again until smooth. Once the mixture is thick enough, add the optional ingredients: chocolate chips, nuts, or sultanas.

Lastly, pop the mug in the microwave oven and cook 1½-2 minutes, or until the mixture stops rising and has a firm texture.

Aaaand that’s it! You now have your easy microwave cupcake without the hassle and stress of going all out in baking.

If you give this a shot, tell us how it went in the comments section below, will you?

In the meantime, here’s a video of a similar recipe we found for your convenience.
