After an eight-year hiatus, Maxibon has answered the fervent calls of dessert aficionados by bringing back a fan favourite.
This cult classic has been sorely missed, with fans clamouring on social media and beyond for its return, and now, their dessert dreams are coming true.
The Peanut Butter and Jam Maxibon, a harmonious blend of salty and sweet, was a hit when it first graced the palates of Australians.
Its disappearance left a void in the hearts (and stomachs) of many.
But why did this particular flavour garner such a dedicated following?
Perhaps it's the way it encapsulates the comfort of childhood snacks, or maybe it's just that peanut butter and jam are a timeless combination that can do no wrong.
Chef Nick Vavitis, the culinary mastermind behind Choclt, a company known for its decadent brownies, couldn't contain his excitement when he got his hands on a box of the resurrected treats.
Sharing his taste test on social media, he echoed the sentiments of many: 'For so long, I was asking, “please bring them back, please bring them back”. We’ve got them back. Let’s see if they taste the same.'
His verdict? The salty peanut butter was a standout, and although the jam wasn't immediately visible, its flavour was unmistakably there.
'I don’t know how they’ve done it but this is exactly how I remember,' he said, much to the delight of his followers.
The buzz on social media is palpable, with users expressing their eagerness to indulge in this blast from the past.
'Could not find them, grrr,' one user lamented, highlighting the high demand.
Another simply couldn't contain their excitement: 'Can't wait to try this.'
The ice creams are making their grand re-entrance at Woolworths and independent retailers in a four-pack, with Coles set to join the party from April 8.
However, it is believed that it has been out of stock on the Woolworths website. Shoppers are advised to visit the store to confirm its price and availability.
Maxibon brand manager Stephanie Chosich shared the company's enthusiasm, saying they were 'so excited about sharing our revamped creation with Maxibon fans across Australia’.
‘We’ve had more requests to bring this flavour back than any other, so at a time when sandwich delis and ice cream sandwiches are buzzing across Australia, the timing felt right,’ she stated.
‘We’re really proud of Maxibon Peanut Jams with Butter, and there’s a few people on our team who are already speculating whether this could be Maxibon’s most delicious creation yet!’
