Child birth in the 19th century
The year was 1881. It was a dark, miserable night when Ebenezer's wife, Mary went into labor.
The local Doctor arrived and attended the woman, calling on Ebenezer. "Bring me a lamp, man. I need light."
Ebenezer brings the oil lamp and the Doctor bends over the woman, performs his duty and brings forth a child.
"You have a healthy son!" He announces before returning his attention to the mother.
"Wait a minute!" the Doctor mutters, "Bring that lamp closer, Ebenezer."
The lamp is brought closer and soon another little one enters the world.
"Another healthy boy!" The Doctor proclaims and again attends to the woman.
"Hmmmm." he mutters..."Bring that light closer, Ebenezer."
And so Ebenezer brings the lamp closer and very soon another baby child is brought forth.
"It is a little girl!" The Doctor announces. "Better bring that light a little closer..."
Ebenezer interrupts him, sounding a little worried. "Just a minute, Doc. Could it be the light that is attracting them?"
