Chicken - well not tonight

I thought this might interest your readers and maybe some have been caught out before this.

I love chicken stir fry and chicken “tonight” type cook ups, but the price of pre-sliced raw chicken is high, so like many, I’ll go looking for bargains like the discount on Lilydale chicken breast sliced stir fry trays. As you can see from the photo, taken in one of my local Coles supermarkets, this and other trays were marked down from $13.50 to $11.47, a saving of $2.03 on the full price. Nice huh? But wait - the tray is also marked as 2 for $22! So what happens at the checkout? Seeking the answer I went to the service desk (before buying any chicken) and asked which price would I be charged - $22 for 2 trays or 2 x $11.47 ie $22.95. The answer is $22.95 apparently, since once the trays are marked down, they are no longer part of the 2fer package deal. So where, in this case is the logic in buying a product which is about to expire, when it’s costing more than the in-date trays? I generally would buy two trays, and no, as a rule they aren’t part of a package deal, but not today Ty Coles!IMG_2127.jpeg
