Change the way you cook and clean with these 6 handy hacks!

We all love finding new ways to make our lives easier, don't we? Especially when those ways can help us save time, energy, and money. After all, we all know how frustrating it can be when we're trying to get something done around the house, and it just seems like nothing is going our way.

That's why we're excited to share these 6 life-changing hacks with all our wonderful members today!

Some days, no matter how hard we try, there always seems to be another mess or disaster waiting for us just around the corner.

But one crafty woman from Melbourne seems to have everything figured out! Jackie Hagart, who runs the popular social media account ‘My Friend Jackie’s House’ on TikTok, has shared seven ‘hacks’ to make our home lives trouble-free.

The first hack she shared was to use the hole in a slotted spoon to measure pasta.

‘The hole in a slotted spoon is exactly one serving of spaghetti,’ she said. We didn’t know that!

Jackie’s second tip was to pour old packing beans into the sink and soak them in water. She shared that these are made from corn starch, so they’re safe for the environment, and are easily dissolvable.

Next, she explained that most toilets have a release button, so the lid and seat can be removed for ‘easy cleaning’.

For her fourth tip, Jackie said to look at the coloured tag on a loaf of bread to check which day it was made. If the tag is red, for example, it means that the bread was made on a Saturday.

You can check part one of her home hacks here:

Her next tip revolved around ceiling fans (heh, pardon the pun!). She said that ceiling fans have a ‘Summer’ and ‘Winter’ setting, which changes the direction of their airflow.

Experts explained that the 'Summer' setting will turn the blade anti-clockwise which will direct the breeze downwards, and the 'Winter' setting will rotate the fan clockwise. This pulls the air up toward the roof.

Lastly, Jackie revealed that iPhones have a built-in measuring app, which allows its users to measure the distances and dimensions of objects. Who knew?!

However, this feature is only available on the following devices:
  • iPhone SE or later
  • iPhone 6s or later
  • iPad (5th generation or later) and iPad Pro
  • iPod touch (7th generation)
If you do have one of these devices, you can find the measuring app inside the ‘Utilities’ folder on the App Library. Tap on the folder, and you’ll see the app listed there, as shown below:

Her followers took to the comments section to thank her for her ‘hacks’.

‘Absolutely mind-blown!’ Said one woman.

Someone else commented: ‘Packing beans, just wow…Can’t wait for my next delivery of something.’

While another said that the measuring app ‘changed’ their life.

whats so mind blowing about these "hacks" don't need some tic tok crackpot to tell me this already know more that she would ever know

Seems everyone is so dumb or disinterested in asking mum or grandparent for hints tips life experiences that only when its plastered on tic tok does it have value and wow factor?

Very sad

One of the advantages of growing up without TV's, or Computor's was that you learnt to do things with your hands, something that seems to be largely lacking in today's kids

I can never figure our the Summer / Winter setting for ceiling fans. I would have thought they would be the opposite way around. As hot air rises, in winter it would be good to have the warm air blown downwards, and in summer suck the hot air to to ceiling faster.
