Celebrity Chef Jock Zonfrillo’s widow posts emotional tribute: ‘That sort of love never dies’

MasterChef star Jock Zonfrillo's untimely passing in May 2023 left a void in the hearts of many, but none more so than his beloved wife, Lauren.

On the anniversary of their wedding day, Lauren penned a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, sharing a glimpse into their love and dreams for their future together.

The couple, who tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Scotland on New Year's Day in 2017, had envisioned a future filled with laughter, affection, and family.

In her poignant post, Lauren shared a video montage of their wedding day, captioning it with a touching message: 'Happy anniversary, My Love.'

'Our dream of growing old together in the middle of nowhere in Italy—kids and dogs under our feet, you laughing your enormous laugh, falling asleep on your chest—is so vivid,' she wrote. 'That’s where I imagine you now. Lx.'

The post prompted an outpouring of support from fans, followers, and fellow celebrities. Among them were Alison Daddo and Laura Sharrad, who expressed their condolences with love heart emojis, while Chantelle Otten, partner of tennis star Dylan Alcott, commented: 'Beautiful couple.’

‘I can only imagine how much you miss Jock. His fans miss him too, but it’s not the same,’ one commenter said.

‘Sending you all the love and strength to get through this,’ another added. ‘Take it one day at a time.’

Meanwhile, others pointed out how the images of their wedding day spoke volumes about how he loved her.

A thoughtful commenter said: ‘The way he looked at you. That sort of love never dies.’

Another agreed, adding, ‘So clear that he absolutely ADORED you.’

Jock Zonfrillo, who was found dead of ‘natural causes’ in a Melbourne hotel room at the age of 46, left behind a legacy that extended beyond his culinary prowess. His death prompted an outpouring of grief from fans worldwide, with many expressing their condolences and sharing their memories of the beloved chef.
Lauren's tribute to Jock on Father’s Day 2023 was equally touching. She shared a series of images of their four children, reflecting on the different roles Jock played as a father.

'When I met Jock, he had two daughters, we then made two gorgeous babies together,' she wrote.

'There were 20 years between his first child and his last, and he was a different person and parent for each of them. What was the same was that he loved them beyond any words or actions.'

Joining in on the outpouring of remembrance, the MasterChef team also took time to pay their respects to Jock in the 63rd TV Week Logie Awards in 2023, where the show won the Most Popular Reality Program award.

In a world where celebrity lives often seem larger than life, Lauren's heartfelt tributes to her late husband offer a poignant reminder of the human side of fame. They reveal a man who was a celebrated chef and a loving husband and father. They remind us that behind the public persona, there was a man who loved and was loved deeply.
