Caught red-handed! Driver found with $2,000 worth of stolen frozen goods from Coles

After pulling over a man in Cairnlea, Melbourne, earlier this month, police discovered a massive haul of what appeared to be stolen meat and seafood in a car.
The Cheltenham man initially hid his intentions, according to Victoria police, but eventually admitted he intended to sell everything for $100, even though the stash of Coles goods was estimated to cost about $2,000.
Photos of the find were uploaded to a Facebook page managed by the Brimbank Police Service Area of the Victoria Police Department.
In the photo, you can see that a variety of frozen seafood and meat, including salmon, prawns, pork chops, and beef roasts, have been seized and were left strewn on the side of the road.
Before describing what occurred, the person who made the post cracked a little joke and said the suspect "must have won the meat tray" to have scored so much meat and seafood.

The police explained that the man caught was supposed to "meat" (this is their joke, folks, not ours…) someone to sell all the frozen goods for $100. "With the meat (lamb, salmon and prawns) being valued at in excess of $2,000, that's quite the bargain," they added.
It was confirmed by Victoria Police that the incident took place on June 12, and the meat was promptly taken back to the Coles location in Cairnlea, which is where it is believed to have come from.
In an official statement, Victoria Police said that the Cheltenham man is expected to be charged on a summons after being discovered in possession of fresh produce valued at more than $2,000.
"He was interviewed in relation to dealing with property suspected as being proceeds of crime," read the statement.
At a later date, the suspect will be required to appear in court.
Even though it's unfortunate that someone would have to resort to theft just to earn a few dollars, the unusual crime has sparked quite a reaction on social media. Given that food prices are so expensive these days, some people brought up the amount of food waste that was involved.
On the other hand, there were some people who appeared to have discovered the comedic potential in the particular scenario.
One user wittily wrote, "Hopefully, he learns from his mis-steak," while a second one chimed in and quipped, "I'm surprised there's no lettuce in the mix," in reference to the ridiculously high cost of the vegetable as of late.
Unable to resist the chance for a couple of more puns, a third person wrote, "What a silly sausage. I hope the judge doesn't mince their words and he gets grilled over this. People need to know what's at steak here."
