Caravaners Shocked: You Won't Believe the Gross Blunder One Man Made at a Campsite!

The great Australian outdoors is a place for adventure, camaraderie, and the occasional mishap, but what happened at one Aussie campsite recently has left the caravanning community in a mix of disbelief and disgust. It's a reminder that common sense isn't always so common, and sometimes, the most basic of mistakes can lead to the most stomach-churning of results.

The incident, which has since gone viral, was captured by an off-road enthusiast, Jimmy Prymal, who shares his travels online. His footage, which has garnered thousands of views, shows a fellow camper at a campsite making a nauseating error that has caravaners across the nation talking.

In the video, a man is seen using a dump point hose – intended for emptying waste from caravans into septic tanks – to wash his dirty dishes. Yes, you read that right. The man was squatting beside his caravan, nonchalantly cleaning his pots and utensils with a hose designed to handle sewage, not soup spoons.

Jimmy, who witnessed the event, can be heard expressing his shock and disbelief. 'Well this a new one. Have you ever seen anyone mistake the dump point for the camp kitchen and wash up their kitchenware and their utensils with the little hose that you stick in your cassette at the dump point?' he says in the video. 'Never in my life have I come across that.'

The footage shows the young man scrubbing a pot with a sponge after running the water over it, seemingly oblivious to the true purpose of the hose he was using. Jimmy's reaction, a mixture of humor and horror, is one that many viewers shared as they watched the clip.

After posting the video on TikTok, Jimmy did the responsible thing and approached the man to inform him of his mistake. The dump spot did have a sticker indicating its intended use, but it seems that wasn't enough to prevent the mishap.

This cringe-worthy event has sparked a conversation among the caravanning community, with many sharing their own horror stories from the road. From people using the same hose to fill up their water tanks to others cleaning their toilet cassettes near communal areas, it's clear that there's a need for better education on campsite hygiene and etiquette.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that when it comes to caravanning, a little knowledge can go a long way in ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone. It's also a call to action for seasoned caravaners to help guide and educate those who may be new to the lifestyle or visiting from overseas.

At the Seniors Discount Club, we understand that many of our members are seasoned travellers who take pride in their caravanning know-how. Being a caravaner l have seen people filling their tanks with the recycled water. The problem is that there in not enough signage and some people don’t look or read. I only fill my tank in a caravan park. Im a free camper. Stay in a caravan park cost money so l will fill up then and l know it’s drinking water.

Maybe the bloke doing the filming could have given the guy a heads up straight away, rather than post first, talk later.
He may have been told to mind his own business, however, if signs are lacking, wouldn't hurt for fellow campers to have each others back.
Social media is yet again given preference.
I am not a caravan person, so cannot comment from real experience. In the end, common sense should prevail.

I have seen a lot of people fill their tanks at Dump points. The hose does not empty the cassette. It is there to wash the dump point down after use. Personally I would never use the hose for water but some people are so stingy they won’t pay to go into a caravan park to fill up

I have been living in the motorhome for 13 months while building a new house and you see a lot of things , which should not happen , not for the persons and not for the environment . Yes , I have seen people filling up their water tank with water from dump points and one lady , did not know , she just bought this caravan and thought is would be OKÉ.
On another occasion at a free camp , there was a toilet block and two mature males arrived at the toilet block . They had a cassette toilet in the back of their car and dumped the contents in the deep drop toilets . One was watching while the other one was emptying the toilet . I knew what was happening and hang around until the other guy came out with the empty toilet . I told them , this is a big no no , there are plenty of dump points to empty your potty . You can look it up online . They told me to leave them alone and go away . If this behaviour is happening more and more frequent , they will take the dump points away as people throw a lot of other things in the dump points . Please do the right thing for everybody and the environment.

We have just returned from a trip through 3 states and there is water filling stations all around the place. Some you need to pay a couple of dollars others are free. We saw a few people filling up 10 or more 20 litre water containers at the free ones. Also there are signs on a lot of public toilets saying not to dump anything down the toilet. Obviously the general population can’t read anymore! People just think that they are entitled to do what they want as the rules don’t apply to them. All I can say is I am glad I have done a lot of travelling in the past that will not be available to this next lot of entitled idiots.
