There’s something greatly compelling about house makeovers that leave us at the edge of our seats. But the thrill is definitely not only limited to house renovations. There’s a new trend on the block that’s making rounds and it’s furniture upcycling.
So, if you’ve got a collection of outdated, and rundown furniture sitting at home, don’t throw it all away just yet! We’ve got some ideas to lay down for you that you may want to try out for yourself – and we promise the results are simply drop-dead gorgeous!
Bunnings recently shared a marvellous furniture glow-up on its Facebook page made by refurbisher, Tanya, of Beachside Boho Designs. The makeover was of an old side buffet and it had no problem attracting over a thousand likes.
The post was captioned with: “Flip it! Check out this upcycle project: Beachside Boho Designs took a dated side buffet and turned it into coastal chic using Porta Timber dowel and Dulux Australia 'Lexicon' paint.”
Tanya is a wonderful mum of three and she shared that she only started restoring furniture pieces quite recently. Guess it’s safe to say that she’s born with a good eye for decorating, eh?
“I started upcycling about five years ago by just experimenting on my own furniture. After I ran out of my own pieces, I made a piece to sell on Marketplace, which sold quickly (and) enticed me to keep going.” she told Yahoo! Lifestyle.
“I lost my husband quite suddenly just over two years ago, so it’s been very therapeutic for me. Now, through Facebook, Instagram and word of mouth, I’m super busy all the time.” She added.
Tanya was kind enough to share her top tips for aspiring up-cyclers:
“Looks fantastic!” one Facebook user praised.
“This is stunning!” another complimented.
“Let’s flip some more furniture!” a third said and tagged a friend.
This wasn’t the first time Tanya left a lasting impression through her furniture restorations. Beachside Boho designs have quite a following already on their Facebook page with over 4,800 followers.
She had previously brought life to a variety of furniture pieces for her clients such as: dining tables, drawers, bedside tables, and bedroom vanity sets.
Wasn’t that fantastic? If you’re something of a decorator yourself, this is the sign you’ve been looking for. Go start with that mini-project you’ve been planning on for years now! There’s nothing to lose.
