Can't Get Enough Fantales? Allen's ramping up production for one last hurrah due to high demand!

Ladies and gents, we have some bittersweet news from the Aussie lolly scene. Nestlé declared only last week that our cherished Fantales—a chocolate-coated caramel loved for its taste and the fascinating trivia printed on its wrapper—is due for discontinuation.

But in a plot twist, Allen's is ramping up production due to a sudden surge in demand following this announcement.

While these famous sweets have a twilight date just over the horizon, they're not shying away without one last cheer.

Margaret Stuart, spokesperson for Allen's, explained the situation: 'It’s just completely off the chart in terms of this enormous rush. You are hard-pressed to find a Fantale out there in stores right now.'

All across our vast and varied country, supermarkets and lolly shops are coping with a mad rush for Fantales.

For example, the Great Aussie Sweet Company in Brisbane has sold over 30kg of the sweet since the announcement. You can read more about Fantales’ discontinuation here.

But don't fret! If you haven't secured your last bag of Fantales, there's still a glimmer of hope.

Sam Major of Tom's Confectionery says, 'We are hoping to get some (Fantales) in the next week. We’ve put a large order in, but we will see how much of that we will get.'

Sam shared that his Hendra store receives hundreds of calls daily.

This frenzy has led some entrepreneurial folks to hawk packets of Fantales at staggering prices on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and eBay.

A box of mere ten packs has been listed for a jaw-dropping $2000!

Reflecting on the cease of Fantales production, Nestlé Oceania Confectionary General Manager Andrew Lawrey shared, 'Our decision to stop making Fantales will be sad news for many people.'

It just goes to show the depth of fondness we Australians hold for these lovely lollies.

Key Takeaways

  • Production of Australia’s iconic lolly, Fantales, will increase due to unexpectedly high demand after Nestlé announced its discontinuation.
  • The news of Fantales' ceasing production news led to a nationwide sell-out, with increased demand from consumers eager to get their hands on the nostalgic lolly one last time.
  • Many confectionary shops and supermarkets report they've been flooded with orders for Fantales, with some even selling single packets of the sweet for as much as $80 or a box of ten for $2000.
  • Despite the discontinuation of Fantales, Nestlé’s Oceania Confectionary General Manager stated they will continue to invest in the production of other Allen’s lollies, like Snakes Alive, Party Mix and Minties. The last production run of Fantales will be in mid-July.

Now, onto some practical considerations—how to enjoy your last Fantales? Might we suggest throwing a small ‘Goodbye Fantales’ party?

Or perhaps mixing Fantales in a dessert recipe? Or even savouring each piece with a hot cuppa and a good film.

For those fretting about the extinction of classic lollies—there is no need to worry! Nestlé will continue to invest in other favourites such as Snakes Alive, Party Mix, and Minties.

The final batch of Fantales will roll out in mid-July. So until then, let's savour the Fantales we have left in honour of the sweet memory they carry.

Remember, life is sweeter when you have a stash of Fantales to enjoy, so don't miss out on this tasty adventure while you still can. Happy snacking!

Yes, well exactly what we expected. Whose idea was the publicity campaign ? Was it Allen's or was it in consultation with Australian Seniors. Senior People avoid all lollies and sugar it will mess with your health!

For a company that has said it is to costly to keep making these sweets, I find it amusing and yet suspicious that they are going to make more because of the demand. Is this just a stunt to get one of their once very popular brands to have a resurgent of popularity or are they so surprised that they are giving people what they want out of loyalty?

Hopefully there will be Polly Waffles back in store, that would help the fantales to keep the shelves busy.

Corporate profits 📈 greed scare 😱 people to boost sales Allen's how pathetic 🤬

The only reason I asked for Fantales was to read the movie trivia on the wrapper. The lollies are not very good for the teeth.
Allens needs to pick up its game with Jelly beans. They are getting smaller, and smaller.
I don't buy their party packs any more, they are like rubber. Natural confectionary get my vote now.
Doesn't really matter. Sweets are not really on our budget any more. Ho Hum.
