Cadbury warns customers against FAKE Easter hamper scam
It was reported that there seems to be an increasing number of Australians falling prey to phishing scams and investment frauds every single day.
In February, we wrote about a fake ALDI Facebook page that has been scamming hundreds of Aussies on social media, claiming that they are giving away a bag full of goodies and a $750 shopping voucher from the supermarket itself.
Now that another holiday season is just around the corner, it seems like scammers are up to their usual business again, doing everything just to get their hands on our personal information.

On WhatsApp and other social media platforms, people have been receiving a message that contains a suspicious link claiming to offer the recipient a free chocolate hamper.
The circulating message urges its recipients to click on the link in order to enter their details and register to win a free Cadbury Easter Chocolate Basket. Attached to the message is an image that says: “Join the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt”.
It’s thought that the link could be Russian due to the use of “.ru” in the link instead of “.com”.
One Twitter user said the message had been sent to him by his family members and was “spreading like wildfire”.
“Probably worth telling your folks not to click it,” he said.
Taking the issue to their official Twitter account, Cadbury has already confirmed that the “Easter promo” is fake and customers should not interact with the messages.
Merseyside Police has also warned the public against the circulating spam offering free Easter Chocolate baskets.
“We know it's hard to turn down free chocolate, but please be aware that this is a scam designed to gain access to your personal details,” they said in a tweet.
Cadbury is said to be already working on the issue and will take legal actions if necessary.
So if ever you receive this message on WhatsApp or any other social media platform, you should not click the link or interact with the spam in any way.

So while there are absolutely no free Easter chocolate baskets being offered by Cadbury, you can still enjoy the upcoming holiday season with them through a real Easter egg hunt!
The news of the scam follows after Cadbury reintroduced the Worldwide Hunt in 2022, the brand’s virtual Easter egg hunt.
“Cadbury is hosting their virtual Easter egg hunt again this year, giving chocolate lovers across Australia the chance to join the iconic Worldwide Easter Hunt,” they announced.
The hunt lets people hide an egg on a digital map for friends and family to find with a personalised clue.
“Missing a family member overseas or an office buddy that’s still working from home? Invite them to join the hunt,” they said.
“Cadbury’s Worldwide Hunt provides a virtual means to enjoy the magic and spirit of Easter.”
