In a recent turn of events, former broadcaster Alan Jones was taken into custody Monday morning.

The NSW Police arrested the 83-year-old over severe allegations of indecent assault which happened during his tenure.

Jones' arrest marked a significant moment for the individuals involved and for community members who often look at public figures as examples of conduct and trustworthiness.

Alan Jones, once a 2GB talk-back radio host, has been accused of indecently assaulting, groping, or inappropriately touching multiple young men throughout his career.

These allegations rose after The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age brought Jones' questionable behaviour to light in an article.

According to an investigation by the NSW Police, some of the allegations have already spanned 60 years.

This prompted the formation of Strike Force Bonnefin in March 2024.

According to both publications, Jones's attitude towards a diverse group of individuals was inappropriate.

His alleged victims included a former 2GB employee, a waiter, an aspiring musician, and a young businessman.

These allegations cover incidents alleged to have occurred between 2001 and 2019.

'Child Abuse Squad detectives have arrested a man following an investigation into alleged indecent assault and sexual touching offences spanning two decades,' the Police stated.

The arrest happened at a unit in Circular Quay, as a search warrant was executed.

Police vehicles were also present around Jones's luxury residence building.

In response to the allegations published last December, a statement released on behalf of Jones claimed the accusations were 'demonstrably false'.

'In the short time available since publication, we have obtained substantial factual information which contradicts and refutes the alleged pattern of conduct by Mr Jones,' the statement read.

'We have retained senior counsel and have instructions to immediately serve a concern notice under section 12A of the Defamation Act as the first step in the commencement of defamation proceedings.'

Last year, Jones released an initial statement through his legal team.

'Our client denies ever having indecently assaulted the persons referred to in your letter, and your suggestion that he has is scandalous, grossly offensive and seriously defamatory of him,' the statement wrote.

The community's reaction to the allegations towards Jones was a mix of disbelief and betrayal.

Ray Hadley, who has worked with Alan Jones for over three decades, addressed the allegations with caution.

'We all have to make sure that justice is not, in any way, interfered with by comments made by broadcasters like me,' Hadley stated.

'My main concern at the moment is the victims in this matter. I would not do anything to jeopardise those people seeking justice at the moment.'

This latest development raised questions about people's safety in the workplace, especially when dealing with influential figures.

It should serve as a reminder that celebrity status does not exempt one from accountability.

It's also a call to action for all organisations to have robust policies in place to protect their employees and others from harassment and assault.

When my eldest daughter was at primary school some years ago she used to visit our 60+ year old next door neighbour who had recently been retrenched. Unknown to us he was using her for his own satisfaction getting her to do more & more deeds, such as taking his penis into her mouth. All while his wife was at work. The final act before we shifted house was them both undressed & her lying on top of him, but nothing further happened.

We only became aware of this when our daughter went to see the high school Chaplain after watching an episode of A COUNTRY PRACTICE. The Police were involved & interviewed him at home with his wife present. He was subsequently not charged because he pleaded his innocence. The Police admit they should not have interviewed him with his wife present.

Some years after learning of this incident my wife & l were at Church in the afternoon after the morning service & decided to walk to the local Deli around the corner. As we rounded the corner to our disgust was this man & his wife waiting for a bus. Somehow l managed to keep my gaze fixed straight ahead & say nothing as we walked past them both. To this day my daughter (now 51) has shied away from any sort of a relationship with a man.

I'm so sorry for what your daughter went through. Sadly it sound like your daughter has carried this with her. While nothing happened to that monster, his wife was just as bad as him as she stayed with him. Funny how the partner goes into denial.

When my sister told me what our father had been doing to her I called the police, they went to the house and interviewed her in front of both her parents and of course he denied it. She was scared and clammed down.
She was 12 and he had been abusing her since she was 8. This continued until she was 16 and then she left.

Many years later when she felt that the same thing was happening to his granddaughter she went to the police and after 2 years of investigating he was sentenced to 11 years jail.
This gave my sister some closure along with many hours of counselling and a very supportive husband.

Her first husband kept telling her to put it behind her and forget it.
Amazing how people use to just brush it under the carpet and these perpetrators get away with it.

What is contempt of court in Australia?


A person is guilty of contempt of the court when they refuse give evidence, which they are competent and compellable to give. A person is guilty of contempt of the court if they do not, in the face of the court, comply with a lawful direction of the court.

There are certain things radio and television people can't say but what is being said on here isn't contempt of court. If that was the case the news on TV yesterday and last night would have served as contempt.

I feel for your sister. It was an episode covering this subject on t.v. which triggered our daughter to seek help. Annoying when the perpetrators slide away from prosecution. Lower than a snake's belly. Prisoners call them rock spiders & punish them because they themselves also have nieces or daughters.

I knew what my father was but no one listened. He tried it on me once when I was 13 but never got anywhere I was a toughy . I never looked at him as my father.
A few years later I found out he did it to another sister but had gone all the way. I told my grandmother who called Docs several times and nothing happened.

Then my half sister told me what he had been doing to her for 5 years. She had told her mother and she was told to stop lying. She told her Grandmother who also contacted Docs again nothing happened. The abuse continued until at 16 she left and moved in with her Grandmother.

It was through all of this we never left our kids with anyone.

25 years later my sister went to the police because she felt he was doing it to our niece,his granddaughter. It took 2 years of investigating including taking his computer and phone. But he was finely charged and jailed for 11 years out on good behaviour after 8.

He was charged with sexually assaulting 2 under-age girls. My half sister and my niece.

He had sexually abused not just my half sister but also two of my younger sisters and two nieces. Unfortunately they said they just wanted it left in the past.

I blame not just the perpetrator but my step mother for not listening and believing and I blame the police and Docs for not protecting these children.

The Dectives who arrested him had also dug out the files on the interview from when she was 13 and how it was me who reported it. The detective interviewed me and said it was shameful how it wasn't dealt with properly.

We were hoping he would be in a hard prison but he was sent to Cessnock prison and is in a protected area with other Pedophiles

Thankyou for sharing this Suzanne rose. Reading facts like this are not only frustrating but hurtful. The very people who should be protecting our children disbelieve this is possible. Why would a child lie about an incident like this?

It is pleasing to see that the authorities believed someone this time but not before beautiful lives were affected over a very long period of time. These are only the ones that get caught because the abused stood up & spoke out. My sister in-law mentioned years ago that she was subject to sexual abuse by her step father but never stated whether he was ever reported. This proves this sort of behaviour is more prevalent than we maybe aware of.
I am ever so grateful our, now 16 year old granddaughter, has good uncles & father who who not do this.

Today more than ever before we need to COUNT OUR BLESSINGS. This is a sick world we live in.
