British actress and Warwick Davis’ wife Samantha Davis passes away at 53

The entertainment world and fans alike are mourning the loss of Samantha Davis, a cherished actress and wife of Warwick Davis, who has passed away at the age of 53 on 24 March.

Warwick Davis, renowned for his iconic roles in the Harry Potter series and Star Wars saga, shared a moving tribute to his late wife, expressing the profound impact she had on their family and the gaping void her departure has left behind.

Samantha Davis, who was born with achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism, faced numerous health challenges throughout her life.

Despite these, she remained a beacon of positivity and strength, undergoing several surgeries, including a decompression surgery on her spine, which tragically led to complications from sepsis.

Warwick Davis, in his heartfelt statement, reminisced about the warmth and joy Samantha brought into their lives.

'I miss her hugs...She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life. She had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes,' he said.

Samantha was not only his beloved partner but also his 'most trusted confidant and ardent supporter of everything I did in my career’.

'With her by my side, I was sure I could achieve anything, it was like having a superpower,’ Warwick fondly recalled.

The couple's children, Harrison and Annabelle, also paid tribute to their mother, describing her as their best friend and the source of love and happiness that sustained them throughout their lives.

'Mum is our best friend, and we're honoured to have received a love like hers,' they said, highlighting the deep bond and admiration they shared.

Samantha's legacy extended beyond her family to the broader community.

Together with Warwick, she co-founded Little People UK, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with dwarfism and their families.

The organisation not only offers resources and assistance but also plays a crucial role in educating the public about dwarfism and spearheading fundraising efforts.

Warwick Davis, who himself was born with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED), a rare genetic disorder, has been a prominent figure in the film industry, with memorable roles such as Griphook and Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter and the beloved Ewok Wicket W Warrick in Star Wars.

The couple's shared experiences on screen, including their children's appearance alongside Warwick as goblins in the final Harry Potter film, Deathly Hallows Part II.

The Davis family has faced their share of heartache, having lost their first two children, Lloyd and George, due to complications related to dwarfism.

In 2019, Samantha's health took a dramatic turn when she battled sepsis, an experience that Warwick described as harrowing, fearing a future without her.

‘The next few hours were the longest of my life as I waited on the ward with our children in the empty space left by Sam’s hospital bed,’ he said.

‘I hoped it would not symbolise a future for us without her.’
