I recall Saturday mornings were a real treat as large supermarkets such as Coles had cafes to relax at during your visit to stock up.
I loved a plate of crinkle cut chips drizzled with gravy and a trifle in a cup.

Coles had a crack at putting coffee and light snacks in their stores probably 3 yrs ago, I doubt any of them lasted a year. The barista machines are still there but buried amongst other displays.

I suspect there was an acknowledgment that the Coles Caf was missing, so that's why they introduced food malls in shopping centers.
