We have 2 Aldi stores here in Warrnambool, and they just finished putting self-service in them. This is nice, especially if you only have a few items. These 2 Aldi stores are also very beautiful inside, clean and always stocked. I buy 98% of my groceries from Aldi. Last week they had a German week, and it was awesome. Their food and prices are the best. Maybe Shaira you guys can let us know on a Monday, what *countries* week it is for that week. Their weekly special buys are also great. (y)

Maybe there’s hope for a Launceston store, or at least one in Tasmania. Hobart would do, it’s not that far if you can tolerate the rather boring drive down. I still live in hope that IKEA might realise that we’re here. Might have to contact Aldi & start making our interest known. Launceston couldn’t even manage to get a BigW store. The joys of living on an island. 😟

Would love to see Aldi open a store in Alice Springs. It would be an amazing boom for the town.

Brave move, opening at Willows before they've finished even building the Andergrove (Mackay) store?
With their nearest other stores at Rockhampton 750-odd km away, their supply lines are stretched even further than the German Army at Stalingrad!

Nevertheless, Bravo! Now I've got an even better excuse to make a weekend of it in Townsville.....

Knew it was coming, and was certain they would make it just before Christmas... Finally, I wont need to bring some of their stuff all the way to Townsville... well every time I visit there I get a list of what to bring in "Aldi speciality stuff" to an ex Sydneysider who does her regular shopping at Willows :) ... had to bring in my own coffee capsules( yes her machine is still working), anything with marzipan, after checking by sending a picture on my smartphone a cute dog food bucket :) etc.. Of course people should not miss the central display offerings ...but the locals will all get the "weekly insert" in their letter box for the next few weeks for sure...

Not everyone is happy about it. I received quite an abusive email from my older, stuck-in-the mud, set-in-his-way brother who lives in Townsville regarding the opening.
