Bouncinette

Who remembers the good old bouncinette? It was a lifesaver for mums back in the day, making it easy to rock your baby and still get things done. But oh, the frustration of tripping over those things! Do you have fond memories of this? Share them here.

Amongst other things, it meant putting the washing (all those snow white cloth nappies) on the line in the sun didn't have to wait for baby to be asleep.

They are still around - just have very colourful covers now instead of the mesh. I worked with a girl who had twins and she fed one while putting the other in the bouncinette at the same time and rocking the baby to calm her. It worked well!

Used mine all the time. Very easy to bounce with one foot while standing or sitting and doing all sorts of other jobs. Just had to be careful if older children wanted to bounce the baby they weren’t too vigorous or poor baby ended up out on the floor as there wasn’t much holding them in.
