Blown away by the generosity of our members...

Good morning, members!

I just wanted to jump in here this morning and just say how truly blown away I am by the generosity of each and every one of you.

As you all know, we run competitions all the time ranging from our SDC Rewards competitions, to our Bingo competition, and our monthly all-member access competition. Lately, the winners of all these competitions have been donating their winnings to Foodbank which we think is absolutely remarkable. We know a lot of you are doing it tough, and we want you to know that is it OKAY to choose to take the money for yourself, because we want to be here to support you too. But to all of you that have chosen to donate your winnings to those less fortunate than you, we just want to take a moment to thank you and say how much you have blown us away.

We have donated hundreds of dollars to Foodbank this year as we have matched every donation you have chosen to make, but without you choosing to make those donations in the first place, we wouldn't have donated as much as we have this year.

So thank you, for being such a remarkable community. It's people like you who make all the difference in the world.

Keep doing good, members ❤️

As nice as it is to win some money, it is equally nice to be able to make a difference to someone in need. At least we know that it is going to ease the burden, of people who desperately need our help.
I agree to win is gratifying, but if we are able to move it along it is even better. I know we are all a bit cash poor, with the
upward trend of all our expenses, but in the scheme of things that money, can be such a blessing to someone else.
Whilst there is always something we could use that money for, collectively, by
us we can make a huge difference. Plus
the fact that our Senior Discount Club is
matching that amount. How good is that?
I have said very recently, how difficult it has become to continue to support worthy causes, because of all those scammers taking and using money that was given to help. At least we know that our Club is a safe way we can make a difference. I appreciate the fact that we all have different pressures on us, that "we need to keep our heads above water"

So obviously, each one of us individually
has to weigh up the good for the good.
But there is no pressure on us if we decide to keep our winnings, or if we decide to Pay It Forward.
In any event, let us proceed to enjoy this time of the year with our families, and friends and to be grateful for the fact that we live in the best Country in the World.
Bar none

Thank you Maddie, 😊 it's so good to hear some really positive news. I always knew there was more good people out there. So wonderful for a change. I want to thank the members for donating to the Foodbank as well. Thank you. Please give yourself a pat on the back, unless you have someone there to do it for you. Take care

I won a $50 voucher for Coles, but haven't 'cashed' it. I would like to donate it please. I guessed the maltesers in a jar

I hate to say this, but just have to,,,,!
Yes, I know you have mentioned that it's okay not to donate the winnings, but this is still putting pressure and embarrassment on those who cannot.
I really feel there is no need to announce a donation when their name is also being revealed.
It may be best to just let us know once a month, any amounts donated. A true donation is rewarded to the donor by simply giving it and not requiring applause, which may end up hurting those who can't and may even be receiving the donation.
Ours is a generation brought up with a lot of pride and empathy... please let's keep it that way.

Hello @mOiOz, I am so sorry if this has offended you. I intentionally didn't name ANY names so that no-one felt 'called out', it was simply just an appreciation post for those who have been able to donate their winnings. I did say in my post, and I will say it again, 'We know a lot of you are doing it tough, and we want you to know that is it OKAY to choose to take the money for yourself, because we want to be here to support you too.' We KNOW that Australians over 60 are some of the Australians struggling MOST at the moment and there is NO shame in taking the vouchers whatsoever. This is why we started the competitions in the first place, to help out our own community because we know a lot of them are doing it tough.

It doesn't matter whether you take it for yourself / your family or donate it to someone else, I think regardless, it is going to a place where the money is needed and that is an amazing thing. ❤️ No one should EVER feel bad for having to look after themselves, times are tough, the world is a dull place at the moment and if the vouchers help bring some joy into your life that is something to be celebrated!

Exactly! They are doing it tough, so don't make it tougher when they win by announcing that the money is or is not being donated. Obviously, when it's not announced, the winner (who needs it) may feel embarrassed and obligated!
It's very easy to say, "It doesn't matter whether you take it for yourself", People DO feel embarrassed when it's when others see their struggling situation.
