If you fancy a budget-friendly and hearty meal, there’s good news in store for you today! Coles has just announced a cracking Hot BBQ Chicken Entertaining Platter deal, and it’s already turning heads among bargain hunters across the country.

The Coles deal includes two hot roast chickens, 12 white bread rolls, a 250g tub of coleslaw and a 250g tub of potato salad, all for a total of $25.

For a little perspective, if all these items were purchased separately, it would amount to $34 in total, making this offer almost $10 cheaper.

Woolworths offers a similar platter to the one at Coles, which also comes with two BBQ chooks, 12 bread rolls, and two 400g packs of coleslaw and pasta salad. But while it includes pre-made salads, Woolies’ deal comes with a higher price tag of $35.

Coles representatives have since told a news source that their Hot BBQ Chicken Entertaining Platters are available in all stores across the country.

There’s a 24-hour pre-order required for in-store orders, while online orders are currently only available for Click & Collect.

This offer from Coles comes weeks after the release of their new KFC-inspired Southern Style Hot Roast Chickens.

According to reports, the new flavour features a smokey buttermilk marinade with herby stuffing. It’s even more delicious when paired with traditional BBQ-style sides or even with simple green salad and potatoes.

It’s also the latest addition to the store’s Southern Style product range, which already includes the popular Southern Fried Chicken Portions.

When they announced the product, Coles assured customers that '[they] wanted to create a tasty and tangy flavour' and to 'build on [their] best-selling' roast chooks.

‘As the weather is cooling down, Aussies want comforting and hearty meals that are easy to prepare but won’t break the bank,’ a spokesperson said. More details about this story can be read here.

I could still make it much cheaper than this.

Best hot chicken deal is Costco at $7 each
I agree with this comment, however, what is generally not realised by shoppers is that while Costco's cooked chicken's are only $6.99 each, the reason they have such cheap chickens is that they buy in bulk (also at heavily reduced prices for them), chickens that have 1 day left on its fridge life. Then this means they need to cook the chickens fast and sell them, to top that off, the fridge life after cooking a chicken that is out of date the following day, is only 1 day again after cooking. Although most people will eat the chicken within 3 days, remembering that shelf/fridge life is a suggestion only. You can freeze the chickens, but still 1 day after defrosting is your best before date. With chicken, are you willing to take the risk?

People are lined up waiting for chickens to come out of the ovens at Costco, they don't sit for any longer than 60 minutes before being purchased. Where as with the supermarket chickens will be sitting for hours. On a good day I can run into Costco grab a chook straight from the oven and a fresh salad be it Greek, Caesar, or plain garden variety and be home in 15 minutes with everyone sitting down to eat. The only leftovers will be the salad and that will keep for another couple of days for sandwiches. And all this cost under $20.00

The Coles deal sounds great. As for the people buying Costco - apart from having the pay to be a member - our nearest is 3 1/2 hours away. Think anything bought there would be out of date by the time I got home.

Of course people are lined up at Costco's for a $6.99 chicken, who wouldn't? The use by date does not however change, it is still 1 day. I was merely pointing out that most do not realize this important consideration factor. Be wise with what you buy, any tip from others can help greatly and the choice is always your own. Happy shopping peopleoids.

For those people who have a kitchen and an oven, surely it would be more economical to purchase fresh ingredients, then cook these themselves! There's nothing better than the smell throughout the house of a roasting chicken! Try buying a 2kg chook, so that there are plenty of leftovers for lunches. With prices having increased a lot over the past few months, you an get a fresh chicken for $6 - $7 per kg and enjoy the rewarding pleasures of home cooking!

Tried the Coles southern style chicken, doesn't taste much different from normal roast chicken.

I have used this $25 deal several times and never fail to be impressed - great value, and I asked for the chicken to be cut up so all I had to do was serve.
Love it.

But for that price you can get an already cooked one at Costco apparently 😁. Generally its for convenience sake

But to shop at Costco you have to pay a $60 annual membership fee, before you can enter there!!

Their Roast Chickens are priced cheaply (called "Door Busters") to entice people (their members) to shop there, and ultimately spend more money when they are in Costco!!

Food Retail Industry figures show only 3% - 4% of Retail Grocery customers only buy the cheap item (eg Chicken), and then leave!!

I could still make it much cheaper than this.

I find that hard to believe, as this Coles promotion has only just been announced, and launched in the last few days!!

By the way, each roast chicken is precut into 8-10 pieces per chicken, prior to you collecting your order, you don't have to ask for it !! (look at the Coles picture, above)

Also the pre ordered chickens are still cooked on the day of collection, but additional to the daily requirements the store will sell!!

Curious to know why 24 hours notice is required when these items are already available separately

The 24 hours notice is required so the pre ordered chickens are cooked on the day of collection, but additional to the daily requirements the store will sell!!

ALso, each roast chicken is precut into 8-10 pieces per chicken, prior to you collecting your order, they are then boxed up, kept hot, to await your collection (look at the Coles picture, above)

I go every now and then with my daughter and most prices are much cheaper eg before I went last time I purchased a bottle of Kinkomin soya sauce 500ml for $9.00 at Costco a 1 litre bottle of the same soya sauce $9.50.
Nutalex butter I pay $6.50 for 375g at Costco I paid $10 for a 2kg bucket I can now use this freely to cook with . The meat is maybe just a little cheaper but is top quality.
The $60 membership allows the member plus one nominated household member.
Good to also fill up with petrol at their servo next door as you get 30c off a litre
