Just look at this impressive kitchen transformation from the account @themissouriproject! The couple behind the page used Kmart’s $10 Decor and Furniture Paint Chips to inject new life into their dated kitchen, with the results being beyond impressive.

‘This bench was a major change for the space,’ the self-declared ‘rookies’ stated before explaining how they upgraded their old kitchen benches for less.

So, how did they do it? The couple started by adding two coats of primer from Dulux’s renovation range, allowing it to dry for eight hours between coats.

It does look good and so much better. I'm always scared I would botch it up.

My benchtops need replacing only because of a burn and scratches but I'm looking at a doing a make over , add more cupboards, painting the doors and removing my breakfast bar to a bigger breakfast bench but think I will hire a professional.

Well, I wouldn’t ever put hot pans directly onto the bench. I would always use a mat. Also, I don’t chop straight on the bench. I use a chopping board.

You are not supposed to put hot pans on your benchtops and definitely not use them for chopping on, that's what chopping boards are for.
I have redone benchtops before with the Rust-Oleum range, a much more expensive range than KMart and even they scratched, so do laminate paints no matter how many so called protective coats you put on.
You see these things on flip shows, they are a good cheap, quick fix if you are flipping a house but the purchaser will not be too happy down the track.

Only used these solutions for clients who were on a tight budget and always told them they were not a permanent solution.

I DID read the tin, as well as speaking to the paint specialist where I bought it, and it is quite definitely recommended for floor tiles - in fact, it is specifically manufactured for floor tiles.

Would appreciate if you could tell me the brand of the paint, I need to do my laundry floor once again and I have never come across floor tile paint. It's such a great solution.

What a lovely looking transformation, personally I very much doubt the benchtops will last very long, it may have been cheaper in both time and money in the longrun to just have replaced the laminate benchtops but for now looks great

But you don't put hot pans on any bench other than granite and you wouldn't chop directly on a formica bench either

So the $10 Reno was in fact much more than $10. No costing for the paint they used which is not cheap. The paint chips may have only been $10, but what did it cost for all the paint they used.

I have tiled bench tops that withstand hot saucepans, baking dishes etc, with no problems at all. I’ve also chopped stuff on them but generally use a board. We’ve had tiled benches in several houses & wouldn’t have anything else. A friend has granite which has marked, scratched & even cracked.

I have recently covered my charcoal bench tops with a heat and oil resistant stick-on. Not sure of the brand but considered if it didn't work, I could peel it off. I will never put hot pans on it or chop on it. My kitchen does look brighter and cleaner. Now to find a cheap and easy solution for the blue painted orange tiles!
