How well I remember these as I used to travel home by train on my days off when I was doing nursing training in the early 1970s. The station I caught the train from still had these in use when I took my grandchildren for the same trip on the train about five years ago, but also had more modern equipment in use. I’m not sure if they are still there, I think they probably are as the station is the main focus of the yearly steamfest celebrations in this area and they like to use all this old equipment to help reflect the era of steam.
