  • 420 g can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 sheet puff pastry defrosted

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160C or 140°C fan-forced
  2. Grease a large pan ( which can cook on stove and oven) and brown the beef in batches. Set beef aside.

  3. Add bacon and onion to pan and fry until onion becomes soft
  4. Add carrots and mushrooms and fry for about 2 minutes.
  5. Return beef to pan with bay leaf, red wine / beef stock and can if tomato soup.
  6. Bring to a simmer, cover with lid and place in the oven for 1 ½ hours.
  7. Increase oven to 180°C or 160°C fan-forced
  8. Place the pastry over the surface of the meat and tuck around the meat.
  9. Glaze the top with milk.
  10. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
Serve with beans and mashed potato.

    NOTES
Not difficult to make but takes a while to make but worth it
I use beef stock in place of the red wine if no red wine available.
I Use chuck steak or gravy beef.
If I'm eating it then I leave out the mushrooms.
I have also cooked this in seperate ramekins and placed the pastry on top
